      It might help to look at an example where the terms are increasing: ruclips.net/video/VgBSzYBMbh4/видео.html Then you can try to make up your own examples to test yourself...you could start with a formula, work out the terms, then see if you can work out the formula. Good luck!

      This is not a linear sequence like the one in the video...your sequence will need an index (or power)

    This is actually the recursive method. If you want to do it the other way try using this formula:
    a₁ + (n - 1)d
    With a₁ being the first term, n being the nth place in the sequence, and d as the difference.

      Why not check by substituting in n=1,2,3,...For example, your formula gives the 4th term as -3x4 - 3 = -12 - 3 = -15
