The only time they got the better of him was in the 1989 Ashes. Apart from him another player who Aussies had a mental block against was VVS Laxman of India. No , Botham was a complete all rounder and contributed equally with both bat and ball like Kapil Dev, Imran Khan and Richard Hadlee , It was Gary Sobers and Jack Kallis were batting all rounders both of them predominantly were batsmen and also did contribute with ball .
Botham 1st 4 years was unbelievable 2000 runs 200 wickets by the time 1981 came to a end he won sports personality of the year then after that he became bored with the game in my view I mean it took him another 11 years to get another 183 wickets but it only took him 4 years to get 200 wickets he batting wasn’t as good but he did get another 3200 runs he was getting dropped from the team sometimes I which 81 didn’t happen because he did change after if 81 didn’t happen he may have kept more interest way he was going by 1985 he should have got 400 wickets and about 4000 runs if he had kept going like he did in his first 4 years But I still loved him as my favourite England all rounder
