Love this! I am in My Salon Suites. I've been with My Salon Suites for 6 years now. I love it. My pros would be that it's private, secured entrance which clients love with covid going on. We are able to play our own music. Just being able to create my own atmosphere for my clients is a plus. Most of my suite neighbors are ex-salon owners and they like it better not having the overhead. The only cons for me is the rent is extremely high and it is cold in my suite in the winter being in a window suite. Once I start working it warms up and I also bought a small heater.

    •  3 года назад +6

That’s awesome! Ugh the music is such a love hate thing for me. That so interesting! In on of the Facebook groups I’m in, I noticed that a lot of salon owners moved to suites or in house salons. I didn’t get a chance to actually ask why,

@Vera, Wow Soo Proud of You Starting this as your first Salon, You started there with not much Clientele ? And that IS Very odd that the walls don't go all the way up, Common Sense that it would be inappropriate. Bad designing from the builders. Sorry about that, I wouldn't like that either. Best Wishes 🕊️🌷

@@TheLaurenalexys I pretty much did what Charma said. I raised my prices and talk to my clients about the benefits of coming to a suite vs a salon or my old loft location. Wow yeah I would say my con is my suite is pretty pricey weekly!
Also I can not control the temperature in the suite!
My pro is you can create suite how every you want paint etc.
Another pro I am able to bring my kids. Some suites don’t care along your kid in your room not running the halls. I can choose to hear the music or you can play your own and shut your door. 😊Also we are able to burn candles. I definitely believe different suites have different rules.

@ Good morning 😁 I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Life is busy so I understand. I hope all is going well for you and your salon. And any other business efforts you have going on. If you haven't already, you should consoder adding consulting to your resume. I think you have a lot of really great knowledge in this industry. Consulting is a fun business and great income. Consulting for people wanting to knowledge should open a salon. What area to open, etc., would most likely be in demand. They know you'll help them avoid mistakes in starting their own salons. And the consultation fee would be a great addition for your income 💰 😁.
If you decide to do it, dont charge a small fee. Charge what you're worth.
Anyway, again I love your channel and will continue to watch. Have a great week. 👑💼

What I don’t like: well the schedule is set! It’s retail so I thought the schedule would fluctuate, but it does t for stylist. Easy to request off so no big deal. Also, we have to use what ever product they’re promoting that week…chi, dry bar, it’s a 10. I do sneak some in for my personal clients. But what I hate the most is if you aren’t busy, they expect you to walk the aisles and engage with customers or straighten the aisles. I would rather be working on a doll head as I am a newbie to the industry. But I’m going to stick it out until I’m comfortable :)

You said all facts! Girl I felt that on paying more for ur suite then ur own rent😭 I took a tour at salon lofts before I went with Sola Salon Suites and the not being able to play music and the open walls made me run! Lol I can't work without my choice of music. The suites are definitely beautiful but Sola offers nice ones too, double suites too. Do you have one in ur area?

    •  3 года назад +2

There are times I’m glad I don’t have to choose music so it turned out not being a big con for me. I love the high ceilings but do wish the walls weren’t open. I ultimately went with salon lofts because I was able to have everything taken down and bring my own things in. We have double lofts but I just refuse to pay double the rent lol. We have a few Sola locations but I didn’t like the setup.

    • @lf9341
      @lf9341 2 года назад +1

@ Hi Vera, I want to say how much I enjoy your channel. I have been in the hair industry since the 80's! Everything you say and do for your clients/ your personality and the way you put yourself together is what a successful stylist is.
I would never own a commission salon but have worked in one. It is great when first starting in the industry.
For the last 5 years I co own a successful 5 chair booth rental salon in an affluent busy area. It is team oriented and we are all the same price roughly. Even though the rent the stylists pay is $400 a week, (They earn between $1K and $1400k a DAY) we make NO profit other than me and other owner getting our chairs for free if that makes sense. Between every expense, rent, water, electric, toilet paper, coffee ,snow plowing, taxes, trash ,ETC ETC ,things that break etc it isn't really worth it unless I owned on my owned a larger salon on my own...
Suites/ mini salons are the way to go I think.
Commission is good for new stylists out of school but only if they assist or learn somewhere where there is education....
I can tell you worked at a high end salon the way you know how to run your salon.

As a Licensed Massage Therapist of almost 15 years. I have rented other areas and recently looked into a sola salon suite. VERY EXPENSIVE for the amount of room that I need. 100 sq. FT. for 220 a week(average 953 an month!) am I need at least 130 Square feet and that means I just to the next bracket of 320 a month. I mean that is extreme that I am debating just retiring. At what point does a professional ( in any Profession) decide "I'm tired of moving around, finding the right place to work for my clients, and sometimes start all over" I am just feeling discouraged.
