I always never cared for Black Panther despite being black (not that my race should matter lol) but the points you've brought up about how bad the story and character writing is really opens my eyes. Thanks for your thoughts.
I gotta say though, the movie really failed to get what the comics communicated: the people of Wakanda never invented the Gun or cars, but they improved their own tech to an absurd degree. Their armor and melee weapon tech was absolutely nonsense, and their martial art prowess was so powerful that even without the Black Panther superpowers, a well-trained Wakandan could defeat an entire squad of armed marines with minimal injury. But when you don't bother to mention that...intentions matter a lot less than actions.

Yeah, making Sniper reload is definitely a decent way to balance them, kind of surprised that people thought otherwise. It ultimately does something similar to the usual proposed nerfs to Sniper's uptime (aka: how people want it to take longer for him to "reload" between shots). In my opinion, another noteworthy downside that could help rein in Sniper, is to give him a noticeable drop in his reserves (example: If he only had 10 or 15 shots in his rifle).

While the problem of using prophecy tropes to wrap the protaganist up in the plot without giving them any investment is bad, the use of prophecy as a way to bring in universe weight to the protaganist's role as a protaganist is really useful and brings alot of interesting developments in stories like greek epics or even dune. Prophecy, ultimately just like any trope, is a trope for a reason, because it has a great use to the narrative but when used incorrectly can spoil a perfectly good plot.

I'm surprised that the Chosen One and The Prophecy doesn't get inverted that much nowadays. You'd think the whole "fighting your destiny" bit would be a decent plot to drive into the ground, but you just don't see it that often.
Last time I saw it get inverted half-well was a fucking porn game, Monster Girl Quest. Dude is prophesized to subjugate all monster girls. Decides to make friends with 'em and kill god instead.

Someone pointed out once that Anikin Skywalker is a pretty clever subversion of the Chosen One. He was prophesied to "bring balance to the Force" and that's exactly what he did. Turns out balance isn't exactly a good thing when things are unbalanced in your favor.
Another good twist on it comes in the Wheel of Time, if you can slog through the whole series. There's a part near the end where, following a complete mental breakdown, the main character decides he is in fact going to sacrifice himself to save the world. Not because he *has* to, but because he *wants* to. I'm not doing it justice in this summary, please read the books if you can.
And of course there's Dark Souls where the prophecy is carefully laid bait to convince a bunch of undead schmucks to throw themselves at the problem until one of them gets lucky.
Also another prophecy type game is Final fantasy mystic quest: where the prophecy is fake and made by the main bad guy, the dark king, and it blows up in his face and comes true
Balance in the Star Wars prequels doesn't mean equal amounts of good and evil; it refers to the peace and order that the Jedi protected and the Sith messed with. Anakin fulfilled the prophecy much later by killing Palpatine.

In the story of Dune they have a really clever twist on the "chosen one prophecy". It turns out that the prophecy is actually a cleverly calculated part of a long term project by a big organization. They plant the same prophecy in every ethic group they find as a contingency plan to allow them to easily manipulate it in a future contingency
I don't know how to make you feel better about burn-out, but know that it's something literally everyone goes through from time to time and it has nothing to do with laziness. You're human not a robot, take breaks and do other shit until your drive to create comes back.

Could you try implementing another change to sniper: a scope flash, similar to the ones in battlefield. It lets the enemy team know that a sniper is present, and that he’s aiming in their direction, which solves the issue of his lack of visibility at long ranges. You could also have the scope flash change from white to a team colour when the rifle can deal critical damage.

I like how battle tendency doesn't have a chosen one, sure the Super Aja is part of the prophecy but it's not like any person in specific was foretold to be able to defeat the pillar men, it was just that the object was the key to defeating all of them

Vigors are in Bioshock Infinite because Jeremiah Fink discovered the work of Yi Suchong through one of the Tears, and then reappropriated them from, 'Plasmids', into Vigors.
The joy of living within a nation that is structured entirely around an orthodox cult is that those with the power, Comstock, specifically, can ordain whatever tf they want and claim it's godly because thy are god's mouthpiece. Which is of course, a load of shit, but when human dignity is kind of placed at odds with fundamentalism, you're going to have many people that act in a fundamentalist way, whether they want to or not.
So are Vigors blasphemy in the good people of Colombia's eyes? Maybe, but if you just frame them as miracles of the city, the same as living in a fucking city thousands of feet in the air is a miracle, it's not that unsurprising to imagine superpowers being sold as a fucking consumer good.
I have a larger problem with the fact that almost nobody consistently uses Vigors outside of specialist enemy types.
I realize they may not have been mass marketed by that point, but come on - do you really think higher ups in the Colombia Military wouldn't be using them like fucking cough drops? Of course they would.
The idea about the Vox is a good one.
I still haven't played the Buried at Sea DLC because the main campaign caused me such anguish that the last thing I wanted was to hop back in for seconds, so I'm unfamiliar with all the lore details. I do still think that this comes across as lazy writing where Comstock almost serves as a stand-in for the writers saying "Look, we want the player to be able to shoot lightning out of their hands and summon a bunch of birds, so that's just the way it is irrespective of the setting, timeframe, and pre-established lore, OK?"
I definitely should have mentioned the impact on the gameplay since so few enemies use the vigors compared to the previous games use of special enemy types with different plasmids, and it also comes across similarly in the setting. You mention that superpowers have effectively been commodified, which is certainly an interesting topic to tackle, but it's one the game basically ignores out of its opening scene with Booker being randomly gifted (not even sold, mind you) the Possession vigor. It opens the door to so many missed opportunities in terms of both worldbuilding and gameplay. Possession is arguably one of the strongest powers in the setting, being tantamount to mind control, but only you get to have it because you're the main character. Enemies don't get to take control of turrets you summon with Elizabeth, they don't get to try and take control of Elizabeth herself to either secure her or use her powers against you, they just get a bunch of hitscan guns that you have to soak up with your constantly regenerating shield because that's just easier. I'm not exactly dreading the loss of having to babysit Elizabeth to keep her safe from the enemies, but I feel like that's at least something compared to the blatant cheating they did in terms of making her effectively a non-entity during combat as far as the enemies are concerned, despite her being their main goal.

I see what you’re saying about the whole “prophecy” cliché, and in most cases, your right. But I can think of a few where they actually do something interesting. Ones where it turns out the prophecy was fake or parts were made up. Ones where characters defy or try to defy the prophecy. Even ones where the prophecy is true, but is initially interpreted wrong can be good if done carefully. But for the most part yeah, prophecy stories, more specifically, chosen one stories, can be really boring and samey
