The thing I like about coach macs videos is that they aren’t so elementary. It’s simple concepts, but he goes under the assumption that he’s talking to coaches and people who know the sport. I find that a lot of the material on RUclips ends up being very basic, which is fine for people who need that, but what coach Mac gives is not something I feel is easy to find. It’s intermediate. It’s not nfl level that you have to have full time players in order to have your team comprehend the plays, but it also isn’t like he’s talking to little kids and teaching them what a route is. Even on the nfl network, I find that they dumb down the football a lot for the common viewer. They use a lot of generalities to explain what’s going on rather than specific reasons why things happen in the sport the way that they do.
The toughest thing about doing videos is you have no idea who the audience is so it’s tough to be specific. Some stuff will sound foreign, some stuff will sound basic. Thank you so much for the vote of confidence
I was looking at the formation with that wheel out the backfield. I think the TE may have been off because they only have 6 on the line if Smith gave that flat orbit motion. The Y must have been off and the two receivers on the right side had to be on. I love the dummy slot concept. Can't go out for a route but if the defense isn't focused, it allows him to occupy a defender, and gives the backside receiver the opportunity to run motions. Alabama has the guys BUT DAMN THE GOT THE COACHES TOO!!!!
Love the combination of two TEs and a shotgun or pistol formation. Didn't catch how they used creative WR motions as well. Very cool insight. What an accessible yet powerful offense!
As a USC fan I'm very familiar with Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian. Both guys do a great job of making it easier on their players by scheming them open so they don't always have to rely on their athletic ability to make plays. Great channel by the way, Coach Mac. Love your content.
Thanks man, I enjoyed both as OC’S at Alabama. They changed how Offense was played at Bama for years because Saban wanted the style that drives him nuts
As an Ohio State fan, *HUGE* congratulations to you! Alabama had one of the best teams I've ever seen, if not the best ever, especially with all the crazy stuff that hurt all the teams this year. I remember watching the game and thinking Sark was maybe calling the best game I had ever seen, so I am glad someone else is talking about it. Ohio State really kinda backed themselves into a corner (haha, get it?) this year playing the scheme they did. They used a 4-3 with 3 corners and one safety as their base personnel, and their adjustment against Alabama and Clemson was to play a 2-high look with one of those guys rolling down into man. I feel like Alabama would have won either way, but if Ohio State had the ability to play both 2-hi and 1-hi it would have helped them a little more. For example, last time we played you, Amari Cooper had an amazing game (something like over 100 yards and 2 TDs) but our 2-hi was able to give the corners a little bit more help on him, and therefore limit the explosive plays. I feel like you feel, that not so much defense, but defensive players, have to become a little more versatile, and I'm not so sure a 4-3 with 3 corners can do that as well as some other personnel groups. That being said...Kerry Coombs knows a lot more about the game--and, just as important at the college level, recruiting--than I ever will, so it is definitely a good thing he is in charge of Ohio State's defense and not me
Coach - would love to see a video on your thoughts on what Coastal Carolina has been doing offensively this year. Being a defensive guy at heart, As I’m putting my offensive playbook in loving some of the stuff Coastal is doing and especially your video on what New Mexico was doing with the Spread Triple stuff back in 2017.
Hi Coach ....excellent analysis of Alabama’s offense
Do you have a video of offensive development and game day
play calling.
Development kind of, play calling not exactly
I love the whiteboard display. Traditional coaching. When those other people use fancy graphics it doesn't feel authentic. Awesome channel Coach Mac!
Thank you, just what works for me. Glad you enjoy it

Really love this guy. I’m a youth coach with kids in hs and I show them this stuff to teach them what they aren’t being taught
Thank you
@@CoachMac No , Thank you

Alabama guys gets over played sometimes, DeVonta was not a 5 star player

TE’s can certainly be an issue for defenses, have to figure out how to work those extra combinations in your practice plan

Can you do a video on you as the DC for Ohio State vs Alabama? Post-Game Mindset. After watching the film.
I’d be glad I made a lot of money for that beating!!!! I’ll look into it

I’ll have to look at more of what they do
Any chance you can start posting these on Rumble.com as well?
Is that an Alabama site?
