I'm impressed that Kaly chose UCLA, knowing that it skews to extremely extroverted and knowing that she is fairly introverted. That's courage. Shoutout to Fish for helping her share her story here. And shout out to Bruin Banter in general for humanizing the team. I liked UCLA gym before, but Bruin Banter gives me much deeper insight into what it means to be a UCLA gymnast and makes me appreciate them, both as a team and individuals, even more. Finally, I think it says a lot about the team's environment that a freshman former elite felt empowered enough to speak up when things were not OK for her.

I agree. Fish did a super great job! And I really enjoyed hearing more about Kaly’s journey on the team. Going to a huge university must be a real transition after so many years of homeschooling.
Kaly is that sort of girl that you can't not love. She's sweet & shy, but also intelligent & energetic. The tunes with Emma sound awesome also. It'll be great to see her transition over the next few years.
big revelation here with her interaction with Chris. Good for her for speaking her mind and working it out. Sounds like she could have possibly left early on. Maybe her expectations were different. Anyway , Fish did a great job interviewing her!
Agreed and think Chris is also trying to find his own coaching style as well and realizing the freshmen have him only and he needs to work with them more unlike the upper class men who had Miss Val as head and him just as associate

I keep saying this wherever I comment on Kaly, but SHE IS THE CUTEST! I don't think I stopped smiling the whole time I was watching. I love this team and how they are so encouraging and friendly with each other. It really makes me wish I could restart the first 20 years of my life to do gymnastics and meet all these wonderful souls.
Not surprised she likes writing - that is definitely a common trait among introverts (like me). I hope she has a great college experience and goes on to bigger and better things.
