[Verse 1] There's no rest, no rest for me I am restless, I cannot sleep The night won't give way to dawn Doomed is the one who is alone. [Verse 2] It's as if underwater silence reigns I'm screaming, but you can't hear my pain Beyond the mountains the gleam is white Yet there's no end in sight This is the path for the wounded. [Pre-chorus] And there's no one to guide me now Except Danitsa, the bright morning star The world's a pyre burning each flower Where have they disappeared, those lilac ramondas? [Chorus] Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda Ramonda Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda. [Pre-chorus] And there's no one who would guide me Because all the stars are sound asleep Saying prayers is of no avail Where have they disappeared, those lilac ramondas? [Chorus, break] Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda. [Chorus] Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda Ramonda Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda Lilac ramonda. [Outro] From the ashes rises up a single lilac ramonda. 1) Zvezda Danica, pronounced as Danitsa/Danitza, is a feminine name personifying the morning star/Venus in Slavic mythology; it can be found in Serbian lyric poetry. 2) In this context, lilac is a pale purple colour, not a type of flower. 3) The island at the beginning of the video could be a reference to the Greek island of Vido and the surrounding sea in which over 5,000 Serbian soldiers were buried during World War I. A Serbian poet Milutin Bojić dedicated his poem 'Plava grobnica' (The Blue Tomb) to these soldiers and this 'blue tomb' is actually the sea around Vido. In this poem, Bojić expressed the tragic fate of Serbia, whose army had passed through the snow-covered mountains of Albania to get to the Greek islands of Corfu and Vido, where they found refuge and shelter. 4) The title of this song references a flower called 'Ramonda serbica' in Latin, a species endemic to Serbia. The mountain called Rtanj is the home to this flower which was discovered in 1874 by a famous Serbian botanist Josif Pančić. Being a living fossil from the Tertiary period, it is capable of surviving extremely harsh conditions. Even if it is completely withered, just a few drops of water can revive it. Natalie's ramonda (natalijina ramonda), the flower of the same genus, is very similar to 'Ramonda serbica'. It was named after Queen of Serbia Natalija Obrenović, and it is worn as an emblem on Armistice Day in Serbia. This flower, also known as the 'phoenix flower', symbolises the unprecedented suffering of the Serbian Army (during the Great Retreat) that managed to rise victoriously like a phoenix from the ashes that World War I, in which Serbia lost one third of its population, had left behind. 5) This song can be interpreted in different ways due to the universal symbolism of ramonda as the beacon of hope for people going through tough times (wars, natural disasters, disease, psychological problems, heartbreaks, etc.). According to my interpretation of the lyrics, the repetition of the line in which the lyric subject wonders where all the ramondas have disappeared represents the feeling of powerlessness and despair. However, the outro of the song reminds us that hope springs eternal. Despite all the atrocities occurring in the world, it is in human nature to never lose hope. 6) Also, there's something magical and unexplainable about the melody of this song. It embodies the spirit of the Serbian people from the 18th, the 19th and the 20th century, the spirit that Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac, the most important composer of Serbian romanticism, wove into his music. This particular atmosphere of the melody can be sensed strongly only by listening to a piano cover. It’s just fascinating.
"Natalie's Ramonda, known as “phoenix flower”, became a symbol of Serbian suffering during the Great Retreat of the First World War. The rebirth is related to the Serbia's ability to get back on its feet after an exhausting battle." This song has alot deeper meaning . Love your reaction ^^ Teya Dora deserves to represent us.
@@nttnynrrnnrnr Spreading false info ? I was talking about Ramonda and it’s meaning to Serbian people . If she said that okay , but this is the fact about Ramonda . Kind regards
@nttnynrrnnrnr To me, it definitely represents the suffering of Serbian soldiers thrown to the bottom of the sea. Lyrics are so fitting, and the whole atmosphere of the song is like under the water. Not to mention the whole meaning of Ramonda. It's beautiful either way, people can find different meaning in songs and connect to it, no need to be mad about it. Serbia lost 1/3 of people in WW1, I have every right to recognize that tragedy in this song.
I had a creepy grin on my face the entire time watching your reactions lol xD Teya is soooo goood omg, I hope she gets to eurovision with this song! :D
Slavandic.. >sentimental Slav's soul 🙂 Have you heard that Ramonda is an unique type of flower growing only in Serbia(in latin 'Ramonda serbica') and it has a special, strong symbol in Serbia... By the way, there's the english lyrics version in some of comments of the official audio.. 🙋♀️💜
thank you dear 🙏for such a wonderful reaction.❤ I love you even more because, like me, you cried while listening to Ramonda. For me. the amazing song Ramonda is the second part of the amazing song Dzanum, like when a person wakes up from great sadness and goes in search of light, and everywhere there are vidinrat, earthquakes, hurricanes, pain... and he literally seeks salvation from the plant Ramonda, which survives on this planet for millions of years and from the ashes is born again❤
