Ooh, nice, my favorite strike aircraft. The thing's a menace in a head-on, because it can have an obscene amount of 23mm cannons and the S-24, which are surprisingly effective for A2A
The loadout that worked best for is taking the four 500kg bombs on the fuselage and taking the two extra gunpods. Then go far to either side of the air map, bomb a base and then run&gun unaware players. The extra guns turn anything that even crosses in front of you into a burning wreck, and as long as you don't miss something more dangerous like an SU-25 or A-10, you'll get away from any missiles that might be a danger through sheer speed.
i think it really shines in simulator battles when most planes can be outrun and have aim9b's that can be out manuvered by turning a bit. i actually grindid it fully in simulators
9.7 for germany can be so strong. with the mi24p at the same br combined with this you have such strong options for air support. Another great vid from the only war thunder channel worth my time
I got 700 matches in it. Its amazing for bombing but very bad in fighting but thats no issue Even if you only ever get uptiers in air rb with it Stay away from f5c and a10s and generally everything with missiles since you have no flares then you are good I grinded the event Tornado in it and gained like 3 million sl during the event. Its certainly worth playing

I'll always hold a tiny bit of spite against the 23BN for being the reason people think the MiG-23 has a bad record in air combat; Iran-Iraq was an insanely lethal environment for strike aircraft and 23BNs, alongside Mirage F1s and Jaguars, were lost in very large numbers, and if you count them as "MiG-23s lost in air combat", it drops the kill ratio of the jet from around 2:1 to like 1:10
You're correct, and there are some similar examples from WW2 where dedicated/specialized versions of a plane that flew insanely high-risk high-attrition missions looked on paper to bring down the combat record of the air-to-air variants of the plane.
mig 23BN is my favorite plane in wt and i used it to grind most of German jets. The review is very good, much better then the other one i saw i dont remamber frome wich channel but they besicly sed that its just a glorified f-104 I recomand taking a single gun pod and a rocket pod for this jet you can use the "fire primery" and "fire secondery" to effectivly duble your ammmo count and the rocket pods are suprisingly effective as makeshift flares i dodged an aim9L with them once.
The 6.3 Arado can be very useful in its BR for ground RB, and the MIG-23BN is just an excellent strike fighter overall. The one not worth it imo is the IL-28, which is just a pain to grind in ARB, don't even bother using it in GRB because it'll be shot down
no countermeasures really limit it's combat capability, most of the time, you'll get uptiered to 10.3 facing F5C spam 1v1 with F5C is possible, but when someone try to 3rd party you with missile, you can't do anything
Hi, nice Video. Grinded it for my 9.7 Lineup. But i have one question, how do you drop only one bomb? When i play it as CAS, i drop 2 bombs with a single button push. Is there a setting that Gaijin changed?
In air rb I always flew high, like 8000 meters, prayed that no enemy MiG-21's or F-4C's saw me up here and flew to a base, bombed it, tried to get a kill and then usually died. Sometimes I had really good matched but these were extremely rare. I once had a 2 kill, one base game where I died and one 2 base, one kill game where I returned to base without wings

Its actually pretty competent for its BR, the lack of ir missiles and flares is punishing but its flight performance is jus5 enough to make it carry the day. Personally i wish it would get some goodies and move up in BR. Im not a fan of flight performance being the defining thing that makes a plane the BR it is, the mig 19 and Drakken come to mind and though they ARE great planes especially at their BR or lower, the proliferation of premium planes and all aspect missiles has really made them so much more of a chore to play than they ever used to be and now are very stressful to play DESPITE their amazing flight performance. For the love of god gaijin decompress the god damn BRs.
At 9.7 germany have a swiss Hunter (for some reason) and it's have two AGM-65s - just use that. Strela would not shoot you down if you fire your mavericks from like 5-6km, and you can RTB pretty fast as well and take another two missiles for making kills from safe zone. 23BN can be more effective with FAB-500s and make more kills per flight, but for that you trade a big risks of being punched into face with 9M37Ms. So that's the choice. One or two safe kills using mavericks or probably more kills, but with high probability of instant death with no kills at all, just losing spawn points for nothing. Oh, and a Hunter is a very good fighter, so after launching missiles you still can effectively shoot down anything flying in the air.

i have it i played i enjoyed it i spaded it. dont care what other people say about it. play with it its fun

Germany's 9.3-9.7 lineup really is crazy strong, good options for ground, heli, and jets.

I just finished my first match with this plane, 3 air kills and two bomb runs!
It feels SO agile compared to the Mig-15bis I previously used.
Oh man .. .talk about a jump in performance ... just a TINY bit more engine power than the Mig-15!
