Merry Christmas from the great state of Texas ! Another tip to get the cap off is to turn over the bottle , put a few drops of lacquer thinner between the cap and bottle and let it sit a few minutes, usually works for me. Cheers !
Merry Christmas mate! I will celebrate it on January the 6-th and 7-th as I'm orthodox. But I will greet you with Catholic one! God bless you and your family!
Merry Christmas to the coolest, regular guy, 'geek/nerd free', modelling scientist. You have provided great tips and instruction that I have used for the past 6 years. Of the many good modelling RUclipsrs, you do the best job in demonstating, in detail, how to perform the various modelling techniques. The present video is another fine tip and technique that will come in handy. I joined a modelling club about 4 years ago after retiring in 2020. One of the guys in the club gave me boxes of paint. Some I could not open with channel lock pliers. I ended up breaking the screw-on cap. Now, I know what to do. God willing, we will all have many more years of happy modelling ahead of us. Thanks again, Merry Christmas and please keep your videos coming. It brightens my days to see a fresh Prime ModelWorks video.
Unbelievable. I’m glad I can put the mini screw driver away. No more stabbing myself trying to jam it up under the stuck cap. Thanks and Merry Christmas.
Thanks for the tip and the awesome sip from that hug in a mug! I'll be honest I'm not sure what my favorite part is, the tip, the sip or the fact that somewhere somehow that little sip is annoying someone. Keep it up, Merry Christmas!
Good tip. I never shake those - always stir. The threads stay clean all the way to the end of the jar and no crusty bits of dried paint falling into the paint.
Back when the caps were metal and the jars glass I use to use a propane torch on low and channel locks.. A small hobby torch will work to much faster than a blow dryer....though the dryer is safer. But always take heed when using heat on slovent based paints.
I put some vaseline on the threads when i buy the paints. The tops never get stuck and the bottles never dry out. Learned that from an old model shipbuilder book. I always clean the threads before applying the vaseline.
Put a small piece of wax paper (make sure it’s large enough to cover the threads when you close the cap) between the jar and cap before you close and tighten the cap and you’ll never have a problem again. Been doing this for years and the cap comes off easily every time. Merry Christmas to all.
Merry Christmas, Sean and all viewers. Heat is the best way. There is a lid wrench for 10 and 23 ml that has meshing serrations that along with a rubber strap wrench to hold the jar is an added solution to the problem. Funny how we struggle with this, always thinking 'I can wrestle this open by myself with the strength I have, I don't need no stinking assistance'.
Merry Christmas fellow modelers! I use a battery powered mixer for all my paint jars and wipe the threads after use. It's a little extra work, but saves headache later.
After getting the lid off........I clean the paint from the top channels and the jar edges and never shake the jar again. As Bond would say "stir lightly, not shaken". Merry Christmas!
Merry Xmas and happy new year to you and your family. I've had stuck Tamiya lids a few times and I have been just pouring a little hot water from the kettle over them. I guess its about expanding the plastic lid and softening the paint.
If you dont have a hairdryer I suggest one or more of the three methods I use. 1- Use a Mr Hobby paint bottle opener - with a textured silicon bottle opener to let you really grip the bottle(available almost everywhere.) 2 - Use very very hot water dip the upside down paint bottle to just below the level of the cap and then use method 1. 3 - If all else fails use the inside edge of a wooden door and gently squeeze the lid rotating it a few times and then no 1. Never failed yet.
Screw driver. Insert and rotate, cap comes off the thread. Also vice with rubber lips. Squeeze the cap in and rotate the bottle till it goes. Then open the vice and unscrew the bottle in hands.
@@c8136132yes that method works. I use to run them under hot water but it actually takes less time to pick up my hair dryer sitting next to me and blast it for 30 seconds. This is of course assuming most modelers have a hair dryer near their modeling bench.
All the best mate, snazzy trick,i'm off to my shed to randomly open all my stuck tamiya paint pots 😉👍

Absolutely, I’ve used this method too, works like a charm. Greetings from Canada!
No matter how long you model there is always one trick or tip you have never heard of. This is one for me and I will use. Thanks! Merry Christmas!

Hope you and your loved ones have a Happy, Healthy and Safe Holidays Season ! Take care, Tony
Great tip, I've been using channel locks...lol. Merry Christmas!!
I turn the jar upside down and give the lid a couple sharp taps on the desk and that usually breaks the seal.

Merry Christmas Sean .. Great to have you back 😊 ... ( Roll on Jan 20th )
Heck yeah James!
Learned the hard way to wipe paint from the top of the bottle and the cap with a damp cloth before closing. HNY🎆

Merci pour cette astuce, bien pratique . Joyeux Noël from FRANCE
Putting the bottle in hot water works as well. Just taking advantage of the different expansion rates of the glass jar and plastic lip
Thanks for sharing, I have used hot water from the tap to loosen the lids too
Merry Christmas, Sean and all viewers.

Also; I have a 2 inch ball of white tack that if formed over the top of the lid it helps greatly in opening.
A very well executed Christmas slurp merry Christmas from England

Joyeux Noel 🎉🥂🇫🇷

I run ‘em under a hot faucet but this is a much better tip!
Merry Christmas. Thank you so much. I was popping my bottles with a butter knife Lmao 🤣 😂😂
I take the old channel locks to it. 😂
This wouldn't happen if you had elf on the shelf 😂😂😂
Merry Christmas to all my fellow extra thin sniffers
Blow torch?🤣
Jman
i use a cigarette lighter. hold the lid 3-4 inches above the flame...a couple turns. bing bang boom.
Hot water in a bowl, stand the bottle upside down for 30 secs. All you're doing is melting the paint
