Brings back memories. Way back in the very early Sixties, when I was in junior high school in Los Angeles, I had a huge crush on Christine Walevska, who had just graduated from the Conservatoire in Paris. She was the daughter of Herman Walecki, a very kind dealer in string instruments in L.A., who sent me to my first serious cello teacher, a displaced French woman named Margot Jean. I remember that I hung in my bedroom a poster for a recital of Christine's, which featured a a good photo of her. I think that she had something to do with my decision in the early Seventies to go to the Paris Conservatoire, where I studied for a while with Maurice Gendron.
I disagree. Ms. Walevska's vibrato in this Arioso is like the quavering of voice of a noblewoman who has just learned of the death of a loved one.. Christine reveals the most intimate inimitable dignity of an aristocrat.
The music still moves me after all these years.

Does anyone know the provenance and maker of the cello she is playing?
over does the vibrato.
I agreed.
