The fabric I use is Robert Kaufman Kona Cotton Fabric. It is very good quality neat even weave (plain weave) cotton fabric with a variety of colors. The price range is around $5 ~ $7 per yard (the cheapest, safe, and good website as far as I know, I ordered my fabrics from this website).

Really good explanation
You explained it so well! Bravo. I also do embroidery tutorials and like to watch other tutorial videos for different ways to explain or try stitching, if I don’t already know. I didn’t know about the ‘don’t go through the same hole 3x, or it creates a bump’. It’s so true though! Thank you for the video 😊

As a beginner too much useful for me
Very helpful video. What do you use to get the black pattern on the fabric? The lines are very sharp and clean. If it’s a pen or pencil, what brand? The ones I find in the fabric store have a thick tip and can’t do such a clean, detailed drawing.
Thank you for the clear explanation; l have always found satin stitch difficult. Which stitch would you recommend for embroidering leaves that are not symmetrical, please?
Thank you. You can try long short stitch. 😊
This is amazing, thank you for this. I have a thing with Satin Stitch is that I don't know the proper or good direction to do the satin stitch, is it good horizontally or diagonally or vertically? Also, one more thing is that I keep getting tiny little gaps from my outline stitch and the satin stitch, and I don't know where to first push the needle. Do you have any tips for this?
There is no good or standard direction for satin stitch. It always depends on the shape you filled. You have you send the needle to the underneath of the outline stitches to prevent the gaps, instead of sending the needle down next to the outline stitches.
Oh so it should be within the outline stitch thread? I actually haven't tried it in that way, I kept on doing it next to the thread, thank you again!
1600 EST Thank you.
What is a god way to fill a large area for say a piece of clothing that will be worn, so it doesn't get saggy
Normally I use long short stitch. Some people also use brick stitch or chain stitch.
So in order for me to make an iron use 1 strand
what kind of fabric use?
Hi!
im going to embroider a cartoon character, very confused about how to embroider perfectly especially the details of the face.
should I start with eyes, nose..etc? or embroider the face with satin stitch first?
any advices?
thanks in advance
I saw people do it either ways. You can try to start with the facial features 1st with split stitch (refer to my other video about Outline Stitches) and fill up the face with satin stitch in 1 strands after. There is one thing you have to pay extra attention if you're filling the face with satin stitch after you embroider the facial features. When it gets close to the facial features, make sure your needle go down right next to the stitches of the facial features, do not leave any empty gaps between the outline stitches and the satin stitch. And one more thing, do not pull the floss too hard when you're doing the satin stitch, it will make the face out of shape. I understand how bad you want a perfect outcome but in order to make things perfect, there are lot of practices to go through. Cheers and happy embroidering!
@@threeincheshandembroidery5904 very helpful tips!
how many strands should I use for facial features with different sizes in general? ( I'm working on a bear 6 cm tall)
And for faces in general too, should I use always one strand to fill up them?
6cm is small...I think 1 strand is suitable. 😊 Satin Stitch in 1 strand will make the surface smooth and neat. If you want it a bit textured, you can go with 2 strands ( btw you can fill up the shape faster with 2 strands 😛).
@@threeincheshandembroidery5904 Thanks a lot! and for useful videos. Keep it up. 👍
@@threeincheshandembroidery5904 yeah 😁
This is why I used 2 strands 😁..to fill up it faster although the bear is so small.
How many strands
Slow down
Great video....... except for the music. I am hearing impaired and it is very difficult to hear your voice and listen to you with that god awful racket going on in the background.
thanks
