So, here is one for you to consider. I do not listen to reactions on other artist because if I heard the same about so many..... it would diminish the reactions. If they are all great then.......! My ears, heart and soul have directed me and it all happened so beautifully naturally, so just like Angelina. Your task is a tough one, I don't know how you manage it.
The live version was performed in a TV studio following an interview in which she talks about not feeling like a 12-year-old, the thumbnail for which came up at the end. There is a video of the whole sequence.

A great reaction video featuring intelligent discussions between two very knowledgeable hosts, which is definitely a wining formula - please keep it up! I have listened to both versions dozens of times, and found myself gradually leaning toward the studio version. In this version, her voice features stunning chest resonance that reverberates like a cello, especially those low notes in the first and second verse. In the live version, her voice is softer and breathier, her chest resonance is far less pronounced. Both are brilliant renditions, but I like the studio version better simply because her vocals are truly magnificent.
Fantastic reaction, guys! Adam, I know you are in the UK and Saium, I'm guessing you are in the US. If so, whenever you do more dual reaction videos, you could call them "Reactions Across The Pond" or "Reactions Over The Pond". There are many videos where two or more reactors are in the same room, but I have never seen any where the reactors are in two different parts of the world. Heck, why not go all the way and gather several reactors from around the world and do "Zoom Reactions". You would be setting a whole new standard! Oh yeah, it goes without saying, Angelina was her amazing, phenomenal self. Just waiting anxiously for her first album from Republic Records!

❤️❤️❤️❤️👣 In this song she explains how she views her family, fans, and faith. Alot of symbolism, the cross with her almost offering her worldly pleasures upon it. The ancient dress allusions. The train coming and then leaving that shines a light into the path it takes, as in through her life? Making her own warmth and light. Burning the money, another reference to what is actually important in her life and what she can do without. She sings "forgive me for all that I am", probably a reference to the disruption caused to her family in selling off their property in Norway and distancing themselves from friends and family to move to America at her request so that she can follow her dream. Angelina is truly a deep, deep thinker as well as a poetic one. She confirmed at least the family part in the recent short documentary her mom made about her careers first ten years when she said that she always wants her family to be her shield. Truly a wonder child.

"Shield" is in reference to after winning NGT, her mother was asked by a reporter, "Are you going to be her Shield?" And I know I assume the other references to the evil is the record industry.
Angelina Jordan is one of the very few singers who sound better (much more soulful) live than in her studio recordings. Million Miles a perfect example. It's a testament to her integrity as an artist. Happy New Year men! Cheers!

I have heard from vocal coaches that her vibrato is from a very old style of vibrato that is not used anymore or taught by vocal teachers. I said this so many times to different people but I really want someday to do an album of all Bond Classics. She has done Diamonds Are Forever. She did Skyfall when she was 5 or 6, it needed a little more practice but I know she would kill it now. and on the interview that was with that live Shield, she told the host that she loved Bond songs and she mentioned Goldfinger. She even sang a little of Diamonds Are Forever acapella.

Adam, good to see you back in the saddle again! Your reactions rank near the top and combine technical aspects with an emotional feeling for the song. Saium felt his contribution was to breakdown the video technically speaking and he definitely knows his stuff. But, Angelina's personal message and soulful delivery were kind of glazed over and when Angelina is singing, that's what it is all about. Your conversation had a backstage feel about it. Like talking business. Angelina's soulful tone draws us right into the song and that's where we want to be.
Personally, you working solo, one on one with us, can't be beat. Occasional "guest" appearances would be cool but make sure you include your audience in the conversation.

You've already played the video with Angelina singing Summertime with a full orchestra but you never posted a video of Angelina singing Summertime on the Norway's Got Talent show when she was 8 yrs old. There's an element of maturity present, a soulfulness coming from deep within her, and a confidence that glows around her as she sings. And, of course, one SPECTACULAR note that stuns everyone. Give it a shot. The orchestra version was beautiful. The NGT performance is stunning and remarkable.

Angelina had help writing this song but did write the lyric, "Forgive me for all that I am" demonstrating she knows her fame has placed a huge burden on her family and inner circle. "Surround me with angels, don't let them go" I like to think refers to her fans which she calls her angels. We angels of course will do everything we can to protect and help our barefoot princess in any way we can. Angelina's new album will be released once Republic Records has completed setting up their world wide promotion so no doubt Angie will be an international mega star.
And who artist has not «got help” ? I thought it was very common to work together to get the best result.
@@jetteart Of course all artists get help. Some angels believe she wrote all the lyrics for this song but from what I learned from Rusty, that is not the case.
@@andyschnell58 Interesting. Other knowledgable contributors have said the lyrics are hers (which makes sense) and she had help with the melody and arrangement (which also makes sense).

Really interesting dialogue, bringing out different dimensions of these two recordings of Angelina's song. Her consistency is amazing in sticking to her arrangements from performance to performance, and yet she does bring more soul into live performances, specially with audiences. Before this live appearance on stage, she sat down with several other guests i Skavlans Norwegian/Sweedish talkshow talking relaxed and naturally about her own situation, and partisipated in the talks with other guests and the host Skavlan. Mayb I misunderstood that the studioversion was referred to as "the original". The live performance in the TV show is recorded live on stage in the popular Skavlan show 2 years ago.

It was done in a TV studio following an interview on television, which is also available on RUclips. It starts out in Norwegian, then switches to English and is worth watching.
I don't know, but I suspect this was her first public performance of Shield. There are a few other versions and my favorite is ruclips.net/video/1xFBGvZPAUo/видео.html which was done at a small concert. It was so good that, at the end of the concert, when it was time for an encore Angelina asked the crowd what they wanted her to sing and she was asked to sing Shield again. The encore was just as good as the first one!

I read somewhere that Angelina dedicated Shield to her Mum. I can’t find the article but I know it’s out there somewhere where she made that comment. When you read most of the lyrics it does make sense. This is a remarkable song as usual from Angelina.

Great collaboration video! It's great to hear some actual discussion about her works instead of just the standard reaction. Great choice on doing the live and studio compare also. Having listened to (more like studied at this point), Angelina's whole library... I think "Shield" might be the most 'commercial' of her works. As you guys mentioned, it does follow the standard pop song structure and the production was a little more 'mainstream' than most of her other studio work. It's a great track, but I feel less of Angelina's fingerprints on this one than her other originals... or even her covers.
That being said... this is one that I might chose to introduce Angelina to certain people. It is a track that becomes instantly familiar. The very first time you hear it, it feels like you have heard it before, and already know it well.

Great reaction guys. Love these collaborations. Angelina did this song in an outdoor concert in 2019 and changed it up a bit. Not as low on the verses and putting more high range runs in on the transitions. It is so much like Angelina to even change up her own song to play around with it. That’s the other thing just a thought when Angelina sings you can understand every word she sings with Daniela it’s not that easy and I’m sure it’s because she speaks another language Angelina speaks English as well as she speaks her own I think plus she has spent a lot of time here in America where is Daniela has not so in all fairness it’s harder to understand Daniela sing a cover than it is for Angelina to sing a cover

Hey Adam always enjoy your reactions! I think the words in the song were an apology because even then she was aware of she was doing to her family. She became a celebrity at age 8 and even then knew she would need to be protected. Supposed to release an album in 2023. Can't wait!
By the way, january 10 will be the 15 birthday of Angelina . Maybe you may do something special to contribute to celebrate this occasion. It would be great.

I heard that about the family being who the song addresses .. but i heard a phenomenal prayer the first time round and can't get the power of that out of my mind.
The only other way it makes sense to me is if it's for Grandma Mery .. who has always been her muse, her best friend, her teacher in all things jazz ..
just my opinion .. she does speak to whoever in the singular .. part of what keeps me in either a prayer or one person ..

She's done "Diamonds Are Forever" twice at different live concerts in 2017.
As you can probably tell, she is much better live, that’s not to say the studio version is not good, but I think it’s the spontaneity of live performances which drives her to a higher level.
In the interview before the live performance, Angelina admitted to a Bond sound influence on the song.
After Million miles I am very much anticipating her whole album that is apparently in the making. Until then there is another own song of her called “ Oslo” beautiful too.

Daniela unlike Angelina is not as prolific Angelina has written a book she’s written songs she plays for instruments she speaks a multitude of languages she’s come further in her 14 now 15 years than Daniela has Danielle started out also at seven but I think that Angelina actually started out at six in the studio so that being said their voices are strong and powerful and good they use their instrument with power and strength and in the right mold they each saying where they’re strong. Speaking about ornaments one of the reactors (in one of the songs) (unfortunately, I forgot which one) showed that she sometimes uses oriental style ornaments (he made an example from some Arabic song) and I could hear it there.
Just FYI, assuming good quality sources, there should be no difference in audio quality between 720p and 1080p RUclips videos. (That's what I've read, anyway.)
