2004-2005. You get the F22, a return fuel system, and a cable actuated throttle. 06+ is drive by wire with a returnless fuel system and traction control.

the *best year* varies for everyone. I got a MY00 and wouldn't trade it for anything newer as the older the model, the more raw it feels
