Some time back I bought a Platypod Elite. Practiced with it at home to get comfortable, but the first time I used it the camera (Fuji 100S) fell out of the head, hit the tile floor, and was destroyed. Complete operator error, but have never had the slightest desire to use it again. For those of you who have one, I highly recommend that you use a neck strap...
I now have two. Bought the Ergo first, and love it. The Elite went on an overstock sale, so I bought it. The level is nice, especially if you need to frequently move the head, or if you need it absolutely, perfectly level. You can calibrate the electronic level, but I found it was dead accurate when measured with a bubble level. Nice review--thanks! I have a very nice Sirui head, and it's nice, but there is that slight movement.
You can. And I have done a few times. However, be careful. If it isn't "just right" your camera will fall over. And then you just hope and pray that you have it seated into the ballhead tight enough that it doesn't fall off! LOL
You can literally see the camera move at 5:45 right when you say it is "not moving and locked in there. Looked like you tightened it pretty good so the PlatyBall fails.
Thank you for the information
and a lot of it...

I've had one for a while now and would never go back to a regular ball head. It's a wonderful piece of kit!
Agreed!

I was going to buy the Manfroto Ball head you have until I found this video on the Platyball head. Thank you.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

It’s a very interesting device. I really like the elimination of ball head droop. Also, your two camera set up for this was cool!
Thank you!

Terrific review...I have been mulling this since it came out without purchasing. You have pushed me over the line. Which model do you recommend?
Sorry to be so long responding. I overlooked this question! I got the cheaper of the two because…well…I’m cheap. LOL. It works just fine for me.
@@TimChilders Thanks Tim...I got the one elite, figuring if I didn't need the level I could just turn it off. It was on sale so I couldn't lose!
@@PhotosBySandJ excellent!!

can you leave it sort of 3/4 tight? So you have some resistance, but it's still moveable?

Yeah. That was totally on me. I bumped it.
