I’ve had the distinct blessing to have become friends with Kelley over the last couple years, so I’ve heard her story several times, but she never ceases to impact me. Men who say the same things are dismissed as purveyors of the “patriarchy” who are insensitive to the realities of womanhood. Late gen X who got caught up in woke feminism in college in the 90’s. She’s now a Christian and fighting woke. Her story is fascinating and you’d probably enjoy interviewing her if you haven’t already.
This is why after HS kids should either have a job and work for a few years before college OR go to college part time and work. They won’t have time to get immersed into this type of silliness at college. I worked for a year after HS then went into the military then went to college. I went to college at night first and worked part time while I was also a mom and wife. This was in the late 70s-80s. But I was also raised in a working class diverse area of NYC till I was 16 and I think that helped open my eyes to the world, too. My daughter became liberal in late HS. She lived at home and went to college part-time. Then she moved away to a different city about six hours away. She kept working for the same company and going to college part time while working full-time. She moved into management. And that really opened up her eyes. She ended up becoming conservative again and returned to church! Now she’s married to a nice conservative man and has a couple of kids.
I’m very grateful for my path back to God. I had to leave my church of birth as a wife married to a man also raised that way. I had to then go through ten years to unlearn/forget that abuse and then go through trying using new age stuff and realizing how empty it is to then be open to true Christianity. I’m very grateful for how it shaped me and there was no other way to get the depth of understanding that I have. No amount of books or anything else.

I am really learning a lot about “tolerance” from these. I fear that I’ve been too closed and upset by people who are struggling with these things and that’s it’s pushed them away. You never think of yourself as a representative of Christ when you aren’t in full time ministry. I need to work on that
So so important that we learn to engage with non-believers intellectually; this woman clearly had a hunger for truth and ethical reasoning from day one. Instead of slinging John 3:16 at the non-believer 20 times we need to stop, listen to what our intellectually hungry atheist friends are saying, and engage them on their stumbling blocks with carefully studied apologetics. You still go straight from the Bible, but you are curating and presenting the wisdom in such a way that directly engages with the non-believer’s stumbling blocks. For example, one I like to use is what she said at the end: you simply cannot ground moral duties (to be good, to be non-violent, to follow the law, etc.) if we are just advanced animals. Animals abandon the slowest of the herd and sometimes even kill their own. So if a non-believer starts homing in on Exodus 20 (big shock lol) I say “Who are you to say what is wrong without first consulting me about my ‘individual constructed morality’”? Too lazy to look up the verse, but hey, if it’s just us out here, then everything really is vanity; everything is pointless.

Great interview! As an adoptee, even one who didn’t have a very good childhood with my adoptive family, I loved this so much! I gained a deeper perspective as an adult God was merciful in that I didn’t grow up with an unstable mentally ill mother but she wanted for me to be in a Christian home. Looking back I can see God’s hand on my life through a lot of brokenness and He has healed and redeemed so much! Thank you Kelly for your voice and your testimony!
Yes, we have much in common my friend. Whether our parents are awesome or challenging has nothing to do with being adopted, it's just part of the human condition. The world tells us a different story. I always say I have three moms: one who gave me life, one who brought me up in this life, and one who gave me the love of my life. That's the goodness of God - we were given life for His handiwork. The tough times were the Job moments as we call them ... the breaking must happen before the entering. God bless you.

And yes, you are right: what those women who are pro-abortion are saying is that your life as a child from rape doesn't matter. But not only that. They are also saying that your biological mother's act of love and strength of having you after such a traumatic experience also doesn't matter and the act of love of your adoptive parents of raising you also doesn't matter. They say they are loving people but they do not know what love is. They don't recognize love when they see it. 💔 The amount of selfishness that is at the center of all of this is unbelievable. It breaks my heart because I was myself a feminist, a marxist and an atheist for 18 years, and I had an abortion too. I was told by my atheist boyfriend at the time that it was the best choice. 💔 Thankfully I became Christian 2 years ago and God has been amazingly good with me, I could not be more grateful🙏. Anyhow, I loved your story because it is a great example of how God ties everything together and even uses other people's sins (like he used Judas' sin to crucified Jesus and achieve our salvation) to achieve his plans and his goodness. When she made the point about rape and abortion and how she would not be alive if her mom had an abortion. That is abortion advocates go to line. Wow that clicked for me. Perhaps it would be worthwhile write a book and dedicate it to those influential people who helped you but who have moved on. A good way to reach out in Christian love and to witness to the truth.
So cool that Kelley is only a few days older than me (Dec 1, 1973). Of course we have differing stories but were both led to salvation in our "older" years. Me, Feb 2017. I wasn't a feminist but did 20 years in the Army, so maybe in a way I was. I never found anything fulfilling (alcohol, men, exploring other religions) until I knew Jesus. @36:28 - That’s kinda what happened to me…When my Mom died unexpectedly about 4 years ago, it was a sort of wake-up call to me to get my act together and come back to Jesus; And you know what ? He never left me even though I’d pushed Him aside for some 40 years or so. - Hebrews 13:5 “Make sure that your character is free from the love of money, being content with what you have; for He Himself has said, “I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you,” - Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
What an eye-opening interview & testimony. Her profound "full circle" moment brought a tear to my eye. We see Him restore & use the broken to reach others again & again. 🙌
By the way God is our Healer and He has the Power to Heal us 😊❤ We are healed by the Blood of Jesus by accepting and receiving His Promises He took all of our sins and curses and sicknesses and all the bad on the cross for us even though we do not deserve it He did it because He loves us Isaiah 53:5 “But He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.”

He's done a great job to bring critical theory to the masses. I'm not a Calvinist, so I part with him on many theological issues. But his Fault Lines was very helpful to me while reconciling culture and Christianity.
Terrific interview - perhaps my favorite. No sugar coating the steps of her survival and journey to faith. Interesting, dimensional, and relatable woman with a story that must be told. Her biological mother is close to my age. I remember the early days of Roe, when young teenage girls, hanging out in my neighborhood playground, bragged about their abortions. An eerie time when the closest thing to seeking God, for me, was watching an episode of The Waltons.

23:24 I haven't even got halfway through I just have to share how much I identify with Kelley. I had weight struggles and body shaming, I dealt with Greek life and I remember woman's studies classes changing my worldview. I am so glad I turned away from all of that but it was a very well laid trap. Funny fact I was also adopted but by my aunt. I knew my mom growing up but just met my dad 2 years ago.
I wasn't raised in a cult but my family was a high demand family with a good deal of abuse and neglect. In my 20s I encountered 12 step groups which I experienced as a gateway to new age and highly speculative ideas about who God is. I appreciated Naomi's story and how she focused on the tension between abuse and love, truth and lies, . . . The complexity of humanity that is lost.
I would love to meet the woman who gave birth to me that has been my dream since I was 10 I am an adopted child and would love to meet the person and I don't even know how about going to figure that out
I know God speaks to us through our circumstances. It's when I came to the end of myself. I had no one but God. The event was when my son was murdered in 2003. It took 15 years to reconcile with God through His entering into it with me in love.

Sean, I thought Kelley would reveal examples of the evidence that ultimately led to her conclusion that Christianity is true, unfortunately, it was all emotions. She did not even begin to demonstrate why Christianity is true and other world views are wrong. However, I am always happy for people who find hope, meaning and purpose in their lives.
Providing evidence for the truth of Christianity wasn't the purpose of the interview, it was sharing parts of a personal journey in the course of an hour. But I appreciate you raising the issue. Nothing about my faith or understanding of scripture is emotional. As a lawyer and doctoral student in Christian apologetics, mining evidence is my forte. But, most importantly, in addition to the overwhelming evidence for its accuracy that we can ascertain, the Bible is true because God said it was. You believe him or you don't. I rely on His faith, not mine. Galations 2:20. I am very public with my process of worldview construction and publish frequently. Have a blessed Sunday.
@@kelleykeller I don’t want to disturb your Sunday, but as a lawyer you would know that something is not true just because somebody says it’s true. Given that the Bible is an anthology, put together over centuries, and was written by fallible authors, where in the bible does God say it’s true? Which part is true? Which version and interpretation is true? If you do not speak Aramaic, Hebrew or Greek, how do you know that your Bible has been translated correctly? As a lawyer dealing with evidence and whether claims meet certain stands of proof, these are things that concern me.

Unfortunately, his “ Evidences” are at best claims that would not be admissible in court. I am familiar with his “minimal facts, and he provides nothing new. Yes, some of the places mentioned in the bible existed.

It's very hard to connect with those who hold a diametrically opposing worldview. We're all in full-time, just some get paid for it!

So cool that Kelley is only a few days older than me (Dec 1, 1973). Of course we have differing stories but were both led to salvation in our "older" years. Me, Feb 2017. I wasn't a feminist but did 20 years in the Army, so maybe in a way I was. I never found anything fulfilling (alcohol, men, exploring other religions) until I knew Jesus. Kelley, thank you for sharing your story.

Terrific interview - perhaps my favorite. No sugar coating the steps of her survival and journey to faith. Interesting, dimensional, and relatable woman with a story that must be told. Her biological mother is close to my age. I remember the early days of Roe, when young teenage girls, hanging out in my neighborhood playground, bragged about their abortions. An eerie time when the closest thing to seeking God, for me, was watching an episode of The Waltons.

23:24 I haven't even got halfway through I just have to share how much I identify with Kelley. I had weight struggles and body shaming, I dealt with Greek life and I remember woman's studies classes changing my worldview. I am so glad I turned away from all of that but it was a very well laid trap. Funny fact I was also adopted but by my aunt. I knew my mom growing up but just met my dad 2 years ago.
I wasn't raised in a cult but my family was a high demand family with a good deal of abuse and neglect. In my 20s I encountered 12 step groups which I experienced as a gateway to new age and highly speculative ideas about who God is. I appreciated Naomi's story and how she focused on the tension between abuse and love, truth and lies, . . . The complexity of humanity that is lost.
I would love to meet the woman who gave birth to me that has been my dream since I was 10 I am an adopted child and would love to meet the person and I don't even know how about going to figure that out

Sean, I thought Kelley would reveal examples of the evidence that ultimately led to her conclusion that Christianity is true, unfortunately, it was all emotions. She did not even begin to demonstrate why Christianity is true and other world views are wrong. However, I am always happy for people who find hope, meaning and purpose in their lives.
Providing evidence for the truth of Christianity wasn't the purpose of the interview, it was sharing parts of a personal journey in the course of an hour. But I appreciate you raising the issue. Nothing about my faith or understanding of scripture is emotional. As a lawyer and doctoral student in Christian apologetics, mining evidence is my forte. But, most importantly, in addition to the overwhelming evidence for its accuracy that we can ascertain, the Bible is true because God said it was. You believe him or you don't. I rely on His faith, not mine. Galations 2:20. I am very public with my process of worldview construction and publish frequently. Have a blessed Sunday.
@@kelleykeller I don’t want to disturb your Sunday, but as a lawyer you would know that something is not true just because somebody says it’s true. Given that the Bible is an anthology, put together over centuries, and was written by fallible authors, where in the bible does God say it’s true? Which part is true? Which version and interpretation is true? If you do not speak Aramaic, Hebrew or Greek, how do you know that your Bible has been translated correctly?
As a lawyer dealing with evidence and whether claims meet certain stands of proof, these are things that concern me.

Not all of us can learn Aramaic, Hebrew or Greek, so we study info from others who have. Being a lawyer, you might like checking out Gary Habermass. You'll find other sources from there. @@pammichel8314 Thanks for your comment. I am familiar with the work of Gary Habermas. The first volume of his “ magnum opus “, “ on the Resurrection, Volume 1: Evidences” was published in January. Unfortunately, his “ Evidences” are at best claims that would not be admissible in court. I am familiar with his “minimal facts, and he provides nothing new.

Just because something is admissible in court doesn't mean it's true & inadmissible doesn't equal untrue. So to me, that seems to be an artificial requirement influenced by any number of cognitive biases.
