At that time, and up to today, as far as I'm aware, the Forest Service has offered permits to citizens to harvest trees for holidays, lumbar, posts, etc....etc.... This is nothing new, OR local, as Bim-bert seems to think it is. No Bim-bert, this program is NOT a program localized to the area around Rifle, Colorado. It's something our Federal government has offered for decades.

The whole Xmas tree, holly wreaths, etc., are indeed of pagan origins, but to celebrate the winter solstice and have greenery through the gray days until spring. Catholic Church fused existing festivals (Easter fused with vernal equinox--eggs, anyone?) and were never totally xtian. They need to get over themselves. No one is asking xtians not to celebrate their precious holidays. We atheists love it too as many of us grew up with it, and it’s the end of one year and beginning of another, a time to reflect and be with family. I know the video was about forest road, but Lauren Dumbo had to bring up the xtian persecution lies yet again.
