Must …. Have …. Plants … Growing! 3:37 I put cold frames along the south side of my house for growing melons. Come winter, they quickly cover with snow. This winter, the temperature hasn't dropped below freezing until outside temp was -25C.
Planning, we kinda do the same thing every year with very few changes. But this year we probably have to many things on our list to change. I'm thinking small changes would have been better. Teaching children gardening is such a good practice. Good job!
Good morning folks...brrr...it LOOKS cold up there so I can imagine how it feels. A good way to grow year 'round AND grow a year 'round salable product to help support a homestead financially is to grow microgreens. They can easily grow well indoors and don't take up much space. I know of folks clearing $50K annually in 12x12 rooms.
Ahh, those extra microwave zeros. 😬 All the dead plants.😔 It seems like it's going to be a challenge growing up there, but I know you guys have it covered. 👍
Hahaha!! "My first time on RUclips" I couldn't live up there unless the good Lord called us up there! I can't stand the cold, snow, wet, winter etc. etc. etc.! I'm sure it's much more challenging to grow things up there, BUT you guys are super intelligent and I KNOW if anyone can do it.....YOU can! :)
You are "Mastering Your Green-Thumb"! I love it! Your zone is colder than mine so I should be watching your videos closer to see results that can benefit our zone of 6a. Maybe we can learn more new-tricks together! Your children will be Advanced-Green-Thumbers! LOL! Best regards to you all!
Y'all did great.
Thank you
Very nice!!
Thank you.

Thank you. We are in experiment mode with plants so we grow a ton of new ones each year.
Great way to beat the Winter blues. Thanks for sharing.
Rob
Thank you, Rob
Yes! Cold frames! I'd love to see a building video on those--especially if it's beginner friendly :-) ~Britt
I am a beginner to cold frames so I am sure it will be beginner friendly.
Her shirt!!! I love it!!! The kids at the end" this is my first time on youtube" haha!
Yes, Kevin bought that for her. Our kids and their friends kept trying to photobomb me at the end.
Woo hoo #900!
So exciting! Thank you :)
I'm also in zone 4 Minnesota. I must live closer to you than I thought.
Yes. That’s part of why I started watching your channel!! It’s very specific to lakes that I’d actually go to 👍

That is a good point. They are becoming far more popular

It will be, but I think that will make it interesting to watch too
Fur monsters.. Haha! Cool grow room guys. Looks like you have a budding RUclips star. Good job.
I love them but they are monsters. I'll tell Sam about this nice compliment.

Thank you for your encouragement. Hopefully, you can avoid the snow and cold for many years to come.
Awesome fun. I cant take how long the winters are either I start getting the itch to grow something.
Its so hard to watch the Southerners starting their seeds right now. ~Heather
@@BearBottomAcres For real. It makes me want to live in the south, then I remember it's too hot lol.
“a gardener throwing seeds everywhere...” lol yep, been there, done that 😂
Me too!
Thought that was the only way to garden, skipping around singing Lalala, tossing seeds everywhere. Lol
lol. that sounds fun in its own way. ~Heather
We have a similar set up for growing over the winter. :)
Nice! It really helps shorten the Winter doesn't it, when you can grow inside.

I love this comment. Thank you so much. Yes, I am really going to focus on learning and sharing more season extending skills this year.
@@BearBottomAcres It's a great topic that we all need to know no matter the age! Thanks!
You mean people the gardens? I thought everyone was like me and tossed seeds everywhere as they felt the garden calling
I still do some seed tossing myself lol
