I like how you talked about condensation. I had a rental property that had mold issue. It was caused from a roof that was not done right. Insulation is the key to prevent condensation from the top of your house or your van. Stay true bro!!
My Fav Van life winter tip is: have a home made Tinder Kit on board with 3/4 fire making tools like; lighters, waterproof matches or a FRod/striker & lotsa tinder like; cotton balls, fatwood pieces, magnesium/cedar shavings, cattails & Jute twine (Cordage). One well positioned Rainfly with an open directional outdoor fire & 1/2 sleeping bags can make all the difference in cozy survival situation, rather than being stuck in a freezing cold vehicle all night long. Make sure that you raise your sleeping area off the ground utilizing an Air Matress (Thermarest) or Old School; use green pine fronds, minus the branches. Happy Trails 2U2!
Is that battery isolator the same as a dc to dc charger? I've heard people say a battery isolator was possibly undesirable. I'm only asking to gain from your experience. I plan to use a secondary alternator with a dc to dc charger but am always looking for possible alternatives... Thanks for sharing!
Great question! And we are no experts but here is our experience. A DC to DC charger will be safer for your house batteries overall, and put less strain on your alternator. An isolator like the one we mentioned does have charge cycles to make it safer but can put strain on the alternator. This particular one is made for Lithium batteries, but other combinations of AGM and isolators have different charge cycles and can be detrimental to the batteries. A DC to DC charger with a secondary alternator sounds like a very safe plan! Thanks for your comment
A silly thing, maybe not a tip, but KIRADog & I like a 🕯️ candles, like caveman like fire. I use the aluminum tubes of a WIND CHIME, took out the strings, used picture wire & hang them individually, one over each of the candles, not too close, but they heat up & not scientifically proven but with slight (-3.2 Volt fan) circulates and is SUPER GROOVY. COLD outside 32degrees, two ( 99c store glass candles in our VAULT, snuggly 72 degrees. Pajamas & happy 🔥 fire. But safe, no worries..carbon monoxide (9volt) detector. Vanilla scent tiny candle was OVERWHELMING, only for a few minutes, nice..if KIRADog farts. EWW! 🤗 Be safe, be happy. Snuggle with your buddy.
You are mistaken, this Li-Bim Battery Isolator allows our house batteries to safely receive charge from the Alternator while the engine is running, in ADDITION to not drawing from our starter battery. It monitors voltage, and cycles it’s charging time. battlebornbatteries.com/product/lifepo4-battery-isolation-manager/

Be careful with Chinese heaters, some of em are more power hungry than an mining rig💀
A battery isolator isolates your starter battery from your house batteries. Close but no cigar.
