- So, I have looked far and wide to find the comparisons between the SXT and the GT AWD models of the Challenger and Chargers to find barely any information between the two being compared! Today you're in luck if you've been in the market and having a tough time making a choice between the two. We will be going over the cost differences between the models, 0-60, Weight, reasons why you might buy one over the other and other factors. Ultimately the choice if yours and I hope you enjoy this video comparing the two models that dodge has put together.

I own a 2017 GT (with all the buttons) 15k miles. I am 47.
Had a 2013 RT + - miss the power a bit, but the GT is *so* much more chill, its a Challenger - no one really pulls up and revs their engine.
Kids with hot hatches can't risk you blowing them away.
Guys with modern V8's know they have you - you have to challenge them if you want to get crushed.
Mostly you just wave at those guys because you like their car, and they have no clue what "GT" means on the side of a Chally.
Owning a 2017 GT has been a blast.
Keeping the car in great shape while carefully picking the next upgrade.

I appreciate you no hating on the V6 guys!! I rock my GT and smash just fine. I would like more power but it would just get me tix & burn thru ⛽️ faster! Plus the color scheme I wanted was in the GT 🤷🏽♂️
I would choose the SXT V6, at least it has alot more power than the car I have now.

I Think about it like this back in the eighties I almost brought a barracuda 73 with a 318 in it not the fastest but cool looking car now I can get an sxt or gt that's faster than the 318 and looks just as cool with all modern amenities

Actually the did have a awd 5.7 it was offered with the Chargers I believe in 2014

Yep the RT’s had the 5.7 hemi! They quit after 2014, cost more to make then for what they sold 👎

I have a 2019 Dodge Charger GT rear wheel drive it’s faster then the sxt
They do have a Pro charger for the 3.6 and it’s a big Difference GT comes with Sport mode, bigger throttle body 78mm Update ECU and sxt 74mm throttle body no sport mode and sxt plus 74mm with sport mode but GT Pools away for the sxt”S like 3 cars away if that’s not a big Difference for you I don’t know what to say then win is a win on a race the Dyno in my GT Charger shows me 311HP when I am driving fast 💨 on sport mode... and my GT keeps up right next up with the 5.7s Charger all the way up to 107mph that’s the fastest we race up too. But trust me you can’t go wrong with a Charger GT
Rear Ratio on the GT is 3.06 and sxt 2.64 and most Beas Hemi RTS comes with 2.64 rear Ratio so be careful don’t Get scam

@@chuckycasillas8342 Obviously if you going the same speed you keep up with an R/T. The R/T would leave any GT in the dust just as a Scat would leave an R/T in the dust.
I have a 2019 Dodge Charger GT it’s way faster then the SXT I smoke 💨 Charger I beat them sxt so fast I have the sxt Charger like 4 car behind so how’s do you say the sxt is fast... the sxt has 292hp my GT is 300hp but my the Performance page it show me 311hp and 6.3sec and 14.7 1/4

The awd system keeps you ahead in speed and gears. It's no comparison you'll beat a rear wheel drive vehicle lol

I have the 2018 GT with all the goodies.. I’m thinking in the spring to put on black 20 inch 275 rims and tires. To give it a beefy look, and maybe put a matte black wrap on the hood since it’s all gray. Oh and I live where it rains a lot and we sometimes have big snow falls. Do you have any thoughts about putting bigger rims and tires on an AWD?
Depends how big you want to go.

You can get a prodigy twin turbo for the 3.6. Boosts it to over 500 horse at the wheels. whats even better is all wheel drive. I have a 2017 challenger GT. I'm very pleased with it.
I've also heard a RIPP supercharger is often installed also. That produces around 420hp to the wheels. pretty neat. I have a 2019 Challenger GT
How much does this mod costs
Just took my GT for a drive in 10 inch snow the other day, and was so much fun! I know it's not the v8 and honestly started to regret not getting it, but once the snow came and i saw the chargers and the challengers getting stuck and me just driving by with no worries i felt better, plus the car is a lease so next 2 years i'll definitely try out a v8 version. In case anyone was wondering, the car is AMAZING in snow. It grips to the road so well and that is with all seasons, so with winter tires, i'm sure it's even more amazing.

@@matthewrekasius8831 Yes i was always able to quickly take off while people were struggling for grip. It's a great car in the snow. I'm in florida now, so i'm going to swithc it out, but if you live in snowy area, it's fast enough for most people and the snow ability is very impressive

The 2017/2018 GT also gave you most of the SXT Plus equipment as standard (leather, big screen, power tilt, remote start, etc) plus the Super Track Pack/Performance Pages, at less than $2k more than an SXT Plus with the same options.
And to add to the confusion, for 2019, the name GT does NOT mean AWD. GT is now a handling/appearance package, and AWD is available on the SXT and GT both. Basically, the 2019 GT is kind of like a T/A 5.7, but with a Pentastar, no matte wrap/stripes, and a 392 chin spoiler.

Your right I have a 2019 charger GT and I am right next to the 5.7 but I know people hate hearing a v-6 beating a v-8

I picked up a 2017 GT to handle Colorado winters (Can't get the V8 with awd) and its a really fun car that does well in the snow!

The v6 challengers really r pretty quick 305 hp in the late 90s that's what mustang cobras and Camaro z28s were putting out in the 5.7 v8 crazy to think the v6 puts out the same power and damn near the same 0 to 60 times
Agreed it is a great v6! I remember my Camaro 5.7 LT1 V8 was 275hp from the factory. I had a 2013 RT challenger and eventually sold it. I recently had a V6 version as a rental for work and it blew my mind how fast it was!
I now have a 71 440 six pack challenger as my toy car. Love the V8 cam sound of the old engines.

I just picked up an 18 gt charger in destroyer grey. The 0-60 is spot on, stock the best I got was 6 seconds after I added the afe gt intake the best 0-60 I got was 5.6. I test drove the r/t and the power didn’t floor me compared to the gt. I also live in NJ where the winters suck.
I also have destroyer gray! Its such a cool color with window tint, looks boss. Mine is a 17' AWD and handles Colorado winter great!

We have a 2018 challenger sxt black top it’s got the 7 inch screen or something like that paddle shifters and I’ve done 6.0 sec zero to 60
My 2019 challenger gt stock does 5.1 0-60
I have the 2017 Challenger gt and I love it. I don't care at all about how much power it has because I'm not gonna be out there racing ppl and getting speeding tickets, 305 hp is more then enough for me. I live in New York and every time it snowed I had absolutely no problem driving so I get the cool aggressive look of a muscle car and can drive it in any weather...win win in my book
Do you have long commutes? I live in Chicago and drive 35min to work, so I've been looking for a daily driver car that works for winter as well. It's really been between Dodge or Subaru WRX STI, these decisions are always tough.
@@jesussamurai8433 I live in Canada and up near a ski hill 45 minute commute to work iv got the 18 charger gt plus and never had an issue my buddy rocks a WRX I prefer my car but I'm sure there both comparable

My Wife Loves Her Challenger GT. She traded in her Genesis Coupe 2.0T. She thinks my Scat is too loud.....lol
GT is the SXT from the previous model. Mine is the SXT and I got heated seats, fog light, spoiler, Remote-Start 8.4 Uconnect and underfoot lights.. I think they change the SE to SXT and the SXT to the GT. Please make a video about that..

I just bought today, a 2020 Challenger GT. Really sweet deal, GT's dont sell well in Florida. Got it cheaper than any of the SXT's on the lot. Why not!
love my 18 charger gt plus AWD live in Canada by a ski hill 45 mins to work no issues in the snow love the car actually a month later my mom purchased the gt plus challenger
If I were to buy one, it would be all wheel drive... That being said, I'll stick with my scatpack.. but the all wheel is the way to go for winter driving... Great vid buddy!! What are your thoughts based around that? Plenty of vehicles are AWD that can handle a ton of power.
@@InnoV8Official it's already been proven that the transmission alone can't handle boost. 86face had to replace transmission after a ripp supercharger was added.
Makes sense. Any car needs to be able to handle the power with extreme modifications being added.
@@InnoV8Official yeah that's why whoever decides to throw boost at the awd drivetrain on the gt will need deep pockets. I think it's more for driving in the snow
@Samuel Jackson He also boosted WAY over what the Ripp kit comes with by default. He was pushing the limits, on purpose. The ZF in the SXT/GT is only rated to 450 lb-ft torque, it's not designed for hard launches with drag radials in mind, AND his tune also diddled the transmission programming. Buy a bolt on Ripp or Sprintex blower for the 3.6 and don't monkey with the boost they tested and/or don't change their tune and the car should be fine for years.

Agree with the AWD model for harsher climate situations. If anything with a Tazer on the AWD model you can turn off the AWD in summer and turn it back on in the winter

They are all good choices depending on your goals overall with the car you choose! They all have their purposes.
R/T is a good choice but it depends on going for Challenger or the charger the GT Charger it better and cheap because the GT comes with 78mm throttle body and sport mode pages and rear Axel comes with 3.06 and most Hemi RT Beas models come with rear axel 2.36 so you do the math and some SRT”S I beat because there are too Heavy Get off the line but that’s just street race last no longer then 1mins

I think if your gonna buy a charger or challenger as a base model there still not cheap anymore and for the price id go with an R/T 5.7 for all the reasons you explained in your previous video a car isnt a cheap investment and your going to have it for a pretty long while the way i see it is your going to have the car for a while why not spend a couple extra grand and get a V8 also notice i said I THINK meaning me and its my OPINION but what do you think about my opinion man?
Jr Soto Some people care more about fuel economy than horsepower. I agree it’s an investment and if you’re planning on keeping it, money spent on gas over time might be a thought for some.
