I am glad you are back, will miss seeing oldy ones, as I would go to them for the info, but you had to do what you had to do. Looking forward to more informed shed talks. Cheers. Ric
Hi guys! Good to see a Shed talk. Where I am in the States, we don't have either bike yet. The bike that has me most excited is the 2025 BMW f450 GS. BTW Rem's Mom got the CF Moto, and she seems to love it.
Greetings Gentlemen SO good to see you all doing what you do. The discussion on the Himalayan and CF 450 bikes is a good one and MAD TV did do a very comprehensive review; Mark maybe its time to change, a new bike may help to get the Vibe back. I had to make some decisions about bikes in regards to my Health and Age...I still want to ride I need bikes that allow me to do just that! It's your choice Mark. Thank you all. Yes I like my Scramblers, I can do a lot with them. Make see you soon... David....Adelaide.....Triumph Scramblers 1200X and 900......all for the ride
Sorry men, I've been away for about a month. Time to catch up. Looks, definitely the CFMoto. I have a T7, so no surprise there, eh? lol Curtis ( On the Back Wheel) a fellow Aussie recently tested out the Himalayan 450 and has purchased a CFMoto 450, it will be interesting to see his comparison. Curtis rides the pish out of bikes. MADTV's compare was good too. This guys ride em hard too. Like you guys said, my negative with the Himalayan is changing/checking the air filter. I'm not sure on the CFMoto but I'm imagining it is similar to my old KTM 890's af, which was quick & easy. But, I ride alone so I'm not sucking dust very often. Which would I buy? With KTM/Husky/GasGas in trouble I wonder if my local Husky dealer who also sells CFMoto Side X Sides and Quads, but not motorcycles, will start selling their bikes? If so that would put the CFMoto ahead of the RE. MY nearest RE dealership is almost 3.5 hours away. Someone threatened you guys? I hope you 86'd the dude.
Saving up for my MT450 for me its the 270* crank twin cylinder engine. No interest in doing single track, never plan to drop it in the rough so weight is not that big of an issue and it will sit better on the highway than any dual sport. Also I don't think the Himmy 452 looks that good.
My mt450 is brilliant! Sounds bloody awesome with a pipe on it, feels a lot lighter than it is or looks, front brake is not brilliant, but does the job, you sit in it rather than on it, 4 litres per 100k, have gotten over 400k to a tank, plenty of power, happiest above 3500rpm, stock rebound is to quick in the bush, comp and preload is good for 90kg, I backed my rebound off 4 clicks front and back from the standard 10 out of 20 available, I find the kyb to usually be double what a showa fork would be to get the same results. An absolute joy to ride
Just clocked 10,000 klm on my MT450 and she hasn’t had any issues and I’ve done everything from single track to highway riding sitting on 120, yeah it runs out of puff on the highway that would be my only gripe. And it carries its weight well, you wouldn’t know it was 195kg.
Changing to higher ratio sprocket sets seems to work wonders for the 450MT. Keeps the revs lower at highway speeds and also helps with the mileage as the engine is kept more in the rpm sweet spot.
There’s a RUclips of an Asian guy taking the CF Moto engine apart and it’s a copy of the CP2 Yamaha engine. One of the issues found was sub standard big end bearings compared to Japanese bikes, possibly why they initially use a high Zinc content break in oil.
Not sure if this is verified, but that engine was supposedly from an 450 SS or NK variant which was de-limited to run way above normal RPMs hence the supposed bearing wear. Again, not sure if the background as to why that engine was being taken apart. But it does give a good glimpse of the guts of the 450 twin engine in these bikes. Also, the 450MT runs a slightly different cam profile compared to the other 450 series for more lower-end torque compared to the sportier 450s which have more high end grunt.
@ Yep, curious isn’t it. A lot of this will come down to longevity in the field. Let’s face it, most of us don’t put anywhere close to the miles on a bike that the Japanese build them to cover. A £5600 bike is half the cost of a Japanese/European alternative and if it can cover 50K miles over a lifetime of off road abuse, it’s paid for itself. At the price it’s getting close to disposable transportation.
It's interesting, I have a riding buddy with plenty of money (like a Multistrada, a 1300GS and a 501 Husky) who bought a 411. I asked if he was going to get a 452 an his reply was no. His reasoning was his other bikes were perfect and the 452 too good, the old Himmy was so bad he could tinker with it buying parts without end to make it vaguely acceptable. Sometimes you just need a hobby.
I tried one two up as I am selling my V Strom 650 that I rode around the world (including circumnavigating Australia). The guy I tried it with was on a Himi and I asked if if we should swap bikes. I wouldn’t bother he said so I didn’t. Ordered one next day in September and it arrives in March, such is the demand in Europe.
I’m guessing you are talking about the cfmoto? So you had the chance to ride the himi back to back and took someone else’s opinion instead of getting first hand experience?
@@timothyangus954 ah ok that would explain it, Nathan hates the 450 himi. Interesting he told you not to ride it at all though 🤔 he’s mentioned in his videos that guys on his rides have tried both and preferred the himi. He always says that people should try first hand, which I agree with 100%
@@teamgas oh for sure, not saying everyone prefers the himi. Looks like more people prefer the mt. But he has mentioned that some people that rode both preferred the himi
I own the Himi and can honestly say it is the easiest bike I have ever ridden. Fuel economy is insane at 35kms per litre!!! Just brilliant. In 3 yrs time we'll see which bike has stood the test of time.
So for some reason, Biker Bits has been removed from Spotify. It this just me? As your biggest Canadian fan, your podcast has been some of my favorites. Please send help. 😫
HI why compare bikes base on price. these bikes are not compatible with each other. one vs two cylinder. compare bikes with same cylinder count. you can compare Himalayan 450 with CRF450. DRZ400. KTM690. and so on. I own 450MT and KTM450.
Thanks!
Thanks heaps mate! 👍

Good to see yous back boys!
Viewing from FNQ📍
Both bikes are great. Depends what you want them for. The himi is more relaxed.

Looking forward to you guys also discussing the AJP PR7 at some point. Love ya work fellas! 🍺 (600cc Adv, 165kg wet)
Hey Mark, Wags with the CFmoto here from the ride we went on
You're welcome to take it for a spin and do a ride review if you wish
Thanks mate will have to organise something soon!

Just got to remember she's a 450cc, but we can only do 110kms on the highway anyway. 🇦🇺🤙

@ I’m leaving the 14 on as it’s good for off-road
Good topic but I was distracted by the fact you all had hair cuts for the pod cast, looking good guys👍
LOL 🤣
Grumpy is on track with Kove. Check out the Kove 450 Rally lads, maybe not a direct competitor to an adv bike but take my money.

Also the standard tyres on the mt450 hate wet and slippery off road 😅

Better than standard Bark busters, and bashplate are an absolute must on the MT450, standard bashplate is tinfoil

Nobody mentioning CF MT 450 are build with the help of KTM 🤔
But it isn’t. 450mt is a cfmoto only bike
@slakk5093 Chinese are known for reverse engineering masters...KTM have legally provided them engines by partnering them
@ yes but only under licence, and only the 790 engine so far
The engine in CFMoto's 450cc series are not KTM-derived, though they seem to be miniaturized versions of Yamaha's venerable CP2 engine.
Get a Harley 🤣🤣🤣
Yamaha is American?
Japan!
