I will have to deal with some NV T350 that I got out from my Eclipses, which I replaced with some Mopar remanufactured Pt Cruiser's transmissions. So far I've seen people will put the wrong type of oil accelerating the wear of these, both of mine had some GL5 gear oil making them work very clunky and grindy in 1st and 2nd, once I started using synchromesh worked wonderful. However after a while one of them started to not like shifting at high RPM to 2nd and 3rd, then also started popping 3rd at part throttle. And the other one just had too much wear on the gearset. So I will try to get at least one working out of the two and hopefully learn a thing or two along the way.
For the t350s keep an eye on the gearsets part numbers they came out of as some are not interchangeable with one another, They have 3 different gear ratios
@@FrancescoBarberaMusic I know, I already confirmed that those 2 have the same ratios, the PT Cruiser Transmission on the other hand, has same final drive but all the gears seems to be different, yet same ratios except for the 1st and 2nd gears. I already got one working and I've got to say its quite the improvement over the old ratio and feels very tight.
my blue one has a stock trans and i run a store brand atf+4 my orange one has carbon blockers and the 17spline kw with 1/2 strait cut im running mobil 1 4t 10w40 motorcycle oil this was one of the fluids recommended by pwerks
I've heard that what starts the 3rd gear issues can actually be the shift fork because they're brass and bend easily especially when shifting improperly. They bend and cause poor engagement with the synchronizer causing accelerated wear which could explain why not every srt-4 has this issue. I used to have one with about 130k miles and it shifted like butter any rpm 😄
well think of it like this 3rd is the most used gear, this can go 2 ways parts ware out. shift cable bushings the clutch fork master/slave cylinders leaks, then there's human error bad shifting hard shifting poor driving skill (fork ware/flex) and poor work performed like improper shifter install, damage to the sector plate, shift cables bent, melted i could go on as i've seen so many on a side note this transmission has no internal shift stops i think if they came with the 3rd extender installed and a shifter with stops like hurst or mad dogg and cables and bushings were inspected every 40k miles or 3-5 years they would last, this is still a quality transmission as how long they last with all the abuse they see
You mentioned oil instead of transmission fluid, do you have any insight on that? Ive seen the vid of the dude on the srt4 dev team that said mobil 1 (i think) was the best trans fluid because it doesnt eat the metal and has high wear resistance or something. Always thought that was weird but it cant be worse than the LSD fluid that ate gears right?
Third gear takes a beating in these cars. I never drank the Ed Peters cool aide of using motor oil in these transmissions. I've always used Mopar ATF4. I stopped using the Mopar limited slip additive. The big thing that helped my transmission was modifying the clutch fork with stainless steel screws. When I took it out it was worn down and it was getting hard to put it into gear.
Thanks Matt, appreciate your content
thanks just trying to spread the knowledge and so in the future there's info when the new care takers of the nsrt4 has some thing to reference to
Thanks!
thanks for your support
@@Mattsneedforspeed the least I can do since you do so much for the SRT4 community. 👍🏻

What transmission fluid do you run in your SRT-4, Matt?

Also the pivot point on the shift fork as well as the pivot ball get worn down. They also add to exactly what you described.

well the lsd is a mechanical unit so there's no clutch packs ive had a bunch of these cars and the ones with oil were always the ones with the issues

He's only the guy that designed it...
