Matthew Charlery-Smith - This movie was always going to do well, considering that he was one of the standouts in Civil War, and also has a high cult following. With that said, box office numbers are falling, with many just opting to get it on blu ray or disc, just 3 to 5 months later. Still after this trailer I'm expecting to see 800+ million, maybe even a billion if it is released to China first. The reversal of China releasing first, kept Home Coming under a billion.
Matthew Charlery-Smith Doctor Strange was a letdown but Black Panther will be on point. It's not a typical superhero movie it's more like Game of Thrones then the Avengers.
DjSsaBackward I couldn't guarantee that because although he was the standout character in Civil War he wasn't in his own setting; he was a featured character fitting into the context of an alien in a foreign land. We could relate to him in Europe/North America but I wasn't sure how the majority White viewership would receive his African depiction in Wakanda with his own people. The first trailer looked too African but this new one seems to have all the elements of technology, nature, spirituality, and physicality that will interest everyone from the four corners of the Earth. Looking forward to it!

I like that these are real Africans with real culture, and not just the typical slave-descended black Americans whose only culture is black American culture, which is inseparable from and defined by whiteness. True black culture is African, and I think this movie (based on the trailer) finds the right balance and the right way to channel native sub-Saharan Africanism into a modern framework. We need more of this in cinema and less urban hip hop culture. Then, maybe the western and eastern worlds will respect Africa, her culture, and her people more.

Black Panther is the absolute monarch of Wakanda, an isolationist, all black ethno-state, all immigration, traditional values are upheld and he is willing to kill in order to defend. We could relate to him in Europe/North America but I wasn't sure how the majority White viewership would receive his African depiction in Wakanda with his own people. The first trailer looked too African but this new one seems to have all the elements of technology, nature, spirituality, and physicality that will interest everyone from the four corners of the Earth. Looking forward to it!

I like that these are real Africans with real culture, and not just the typical slave-descended black Americans whose only culture is black American culture, which is inseparable from and defined by whiteness. True black culture is African, and I think this movie (based on the trailer) finds the right balance and the right way to channel native sub-Saharan Africanism into a modern framework. We need more of this in cinema and less urban hip hop culture. Then, maybe the western and eastern worlds will respect Africa, her culture, and her people more.

There's good to have mainly black cast on main stream movies, because it allows blacks to be able to feel accepted and appreciated in a world where mainly whites are given opportunity, and glorified as the top of the food chain. So yes this movie is a good start to mending the fences of hatered from people like yourself sir. The fact that you just questioned why are blacks happy to see themselves represented in a dominantly black cast, is the exact reason why blacks need to be shown more in main stream movies with big parts. Back in the days and still today the roles of blacks in movies, especially dark skin blacks are very limited to social stereotypes, such as drug dealers, hoes, violent, angry, loud, ghetto, poor, basically negative shit. So to see whites allowing blacks to be in "films like these, are refreshing. It's something that should be normal. But since it's not normal to see blacks on tv with positive and important roles, yes blacks are happy to see it being displayed in this movie. Whites are not the only ones living in the USA.
