The A2 actually ironed out most of the problems the A1 had and is very serviceable irl, especially after the Daniel Defence rail system was added to the front to make it more modular. It was so serviceable, in fact, that the A3 is essentially the same gun with a full length picatinny rail at the top. The bad reputation of the A1 cast a big shadow that still looms over the SA80 today, whereas the gun can easily compete with the M4. Also the reason for the unicorn in the logo is because that's Scotland's national animal :)

Tbh, the only people who think that way get their information from rainbow six and MW Reddit threads. Doesn’t really matter too much at the end of the day.
My dad was deployed with the SA80 during the Gulf War. He used the A1 variant. He stated, that on many times as soon as he and his buddies had the chance to pick up an Iraqi AK and vest, they would. Why would you run around with a 5.56 that doesn’t work in sand when you can run a 7.62 that would run in a sandstorm. Refuses to tell me HOW he got his hands on an AK, but there’s a photo of him and his pals chillin with ak’s, pkp etc. My cousin has used the A2, says it’s a beautiful weapon and he owes his life to it. Now I’m set to be deployed with the A3 in a few months (if all goes well) so I’ll try to remember to give my opinion on that!
I’ve used the L85A2 extensively and while it isn’t perfect the malfunctions are few and far between (mainly has a stoppage when using blanks) the main down side is it’s basically the heaviest general service rifle (that I know of) which when lugging it around all day can get quite tiring.
@@fishchips7435 the M16A1s problems were mainly being made out of cheaper materials causing it to corrode in the chamber causing stoppages as-well as cheaply made ammunition which also rusted. So it wasn’t really the weapons fault as this could have been avoided or at least delayed by proper field admin. So in a few ways is was the users fault but mainly if they just made the rifle with better materials it would have been avoided. Where as the L85A1 had heaps of problems due to design flaws and bad quality control.
@@joshstarkey3022 not the A1, the A1 fixed those problems. The original M16 is the one with those problems and it only took them a few months to fix them. Compare that to the decades it took to unfuck the L85...
The only horrible thing about the G36 is the goddamn grenade launcher sight when playing as Demo. That thing is perfectly placed to block a lot of the most important part of the screen, lol.
I love the G36 although I find the barrel length an issue (sometimes), it’s a little too costly as well for how I set up my guns but hey I could probably drop some things anyway to make up

Oh yeah, the M16 got off to a *very* rocky start, mainly thanks to some minor issues such as the humid jungles of Vietnam mixed with the fact that soldiers didn't properly clean them because they believed the myth that it cleaned itself as you fired it.
Well that and they issued it ammo that used cheap powder that Armalite specifically told them not to use. By the way the "self cleaning" thing wasn't a mistake it was a misstatement. The AR is a Self Clearing design, the gas system blasts debris out of the gun, preventing dust, dirt and mud from infiltrating the locking lugs. Basically using bad powder is the primary way you kill an AR, it won't die just from dirt and mud.
I want to point out that velocity directly correlates to damage. The penetration is about how well the bullet goes through armor and obstacles, but velocity determines the base damage.
The l85a2 was a very reliable service rifle, the misconception of the jams and unreliability cane from the l85a1 which is no longer in service with the British armed forces
You love to see it. One of my favorite videogame rifles ever since battlefield 3 and 4 where that thing was once again a sleeper hit (imo). Low recoil and just a little more range than seems necessary for an assault rifle make it such a good all-rounder. Glad to see it getting some love in this game too!
It feels like a hipster AUG : "I was an AUG before it was cool". Seriously, I see a lot of similarities between the 2 guns except it feels somewhat smoother than the AUG in my opinion.

HK was British owned and operated when the A2 upgrade was done, it’s why they chose HK to do it instead of just going straight to BAE, the (at the time) parent company of HK

The L85A2/3 has been proven to be more accurate than the M16/M4 family, at the time HK was owned by the British Government, not the Germans. It packs more of a punch than the m4, the L86 LSW is another gun I wish they would add.

British military still uses the L85A2. The “a3” isn’t a new iteration of the weapon, just updated parts that replace the barrel housing from what I can tell. I’ve seen some people say it’s now one of the best rifles on the planet, but then the likes of Christian Craighead (former 22 sas) says it’s awful, though, he could be referring to the A1 - which is obviously notoriously bad.

They used these when I was in the cadets (basically watered down,army training for under 18's). it was the sight that put me off. The blanks we were firing acted like real rounds (naturally).. but the weapon felt very "janky", almost as if it had a loose plate of metal that shuddered on trigger pull. Maybe it was that which put me off following into the actual army.. at that time it would've been the middle East, where the US were rocking M4's or variants of it, and the insurgents were using everything from AK's to barely refurbished odds and ends, from wherever they could scramble the parts. This gun is not what I'd want to be using.
A1 was lethal, to the user mostly, stoppages, made out of biscuit tins, the bug spray melted “everything” not just the plastic😂. Never had a major issue using the A2, after H&K fixed it. melted a few firing pins, but that was my bad. Was later a LSW gunner, that rifle was very under rated, hitting accurately (ish) way down range.
I hate this rifle irl but man is it great in every game I pick it up in. I can’t think of a bad version in any game. Usually they’re good or great and at worst mediocre

Went to an open-day fire range event a few years back. They had a bunch of guns and if you had any credentials of any kind(from a hunting license to proof of owning a rifle) you could shoot their rifles. There were like 10 Ak platforms, couple m4's, Ar-15's, M16 yada yada the typical stuff. But there was one A2 available to shoot that NO ONE had touched the entire day. Not gonna lie, I picked this bad boy up and was very surprised by how it felt at both a resting and a firing position. It was comfortable and it felt like my shoulder had a lock on the entire rear section of the platform. It fired beautifully and ever since then I have always wanted one, or at least one to modify to my liking.
Serious question How the hell do you have your character model actually there, mine has been broken so long and am kinds frustrated with it since I got the DLCS yet cant change outfits to save my life. Want this bug fixed so bad its so extremely annoying, also the invisible character models in game are also horrible.
Americans have a good service rifle??? Any rifle chambered in .556 imo is not a good service rifle. I’ve trained with pretty much all the small arms used by the United States, and I would take 7.62 over .556 any day any situation hands down

The main reason why I use L85 is it's beautiful "karate chop" reload
It only does the karate chop to make sure there aren't any stoppages.

It has a 20 inch barrel, so it has the same as the M16, and has a proper length barrel for the velocity dependent 5.56, unlike the M4 or MK18.
Best thing about L85 are the crisp reload animations.
