Today, I decided to just turn on the camera and talk about where I've been at mentally so far in 2024 and wow I did not expect for this to get as deep as it was. I went into it with no plan, but just speaking from my current state of mind. This year has been very introspective and reflective for me so far, and I haven't felt this healed in years. That might sound dramatic, but this time period is one of the first in years that I haven't felt heart broken or had my emotions tied to a specific person. I feel content with myself, I'm enjoying my time with my closest friends, and I have slowly rebuilt my self-confidence. Even though I was sick for the last couple of months and didn't have my favorite outlet in the world, singing, I have been on such an emotional high. I've been traveling and seeing people that bring me such significant levels of joy and love that I've really found innate contentment again. Additionally, I feel fully healed from every love and have actually gotten to the point where I am on good terms with them, something I never imagined. It's been a very healing year, and I'm happy that I have gotten closure, even though I really didn't need it anymore, and it was when I least expected. If you have ever listened to my music, you have noticed themes of distance and sudden shifts, which, unfortunately, have negatively impacted my sense of self. However, after all this time and by shifting my focus I have finally fully repaired myself and that has brought me such a great level of relief. Anyways, I hope you enjoy getting a little more of a glimpse into my mindset and perspective on life and myself. Trying your best is all anyone can aim to do, and the value of true friends can't be overstated. Took me a very long time to appreciate or accept that.
Travelling vs being at home (as in "home town" or something in that direction): I suspect it fires up some deep human instincts when one travels. So often, people have a heightened awareness of how lovely the places they travel to are (I think really that's just an appreciation of being on this beautiful Earth we keep losing sight of) and how interesting and nice the people they meet are (maybe just a good switch for becoming aware of the fact that humans are generally not as disgusting as they're made out to be?). Maybe that's just sheer novelty, but I suspect it's more than that. I suspect we're wired up to have the dopamine start to flow when we get on the move. Leave this campsite, and move up into the tundra as the Spring thaw starts, and you get within reach of new food sources. And I suppose mating opportunities. Stay at home and there's no-one to mate with for the future of humanity. All sorts of things one would expect to have instincts attached, driven by some survival advantage. Not a great way to think of travel when traveling, but maybe a good way to think of it when at home? Before the wanderlust starts to itch again. (At which time it gives you a really good excuse to follow that: "I'm just living naturally according to my basic nature".) I think maybe the best thing of all about traveling is that it can refresh your perception of same old same old, ordinary Home. When you get back, you see familiar places with a bit of traveler wonder, too. And the familiar faces give you a warm feeling you can't get, traveling. Maybe we also have some kind of "homecoming instinct" too? Travel in circles, and you get good at harvesting the whole of the circle, and at moving on when it's time to move on again. Travel is great, but there's also a sense in which it's an illusion. Not a bad illusion. An illusion to cultivate, generally. Some illusions are the very thing that makes life worth living. (I say this as someone who's traveled to places as a traveler, and then later stopped by again for long enough to become somewhat settled. It's interesting how the "magic" of the place fades away, to be replaced with familiarity. Pleasant familiarity mainly. Sometimes even dull familiarity, though. Dull familiarity just being a message from the part of one's brain that doesn't speak in words trying to say, "Come on! Time to move on again! I'm sure it's caribou season again."

Then So Hyang's "You Raise Me Up" , ruclips.net/video/te_L9ofhUt8/видео.html, she sang just out of the hospital, came to me. Maybe reacting to these would be good for us all.
