    Thank you so much for the advice! I'm audition for San Francisco Ballet summer intensive later this month and it's nice to find other videos that help the advice. Especially the age portion with the artistry maturity because I started a little later than the usual age but it came with advantages (combination memorization faster, more grasp of terminology, mature artistry, etc).

    Does anyone know about Ballet Chicago's summer program, what it's like, if it's good, etc? I'm going to audition but i can't find much online

    I am 17, yet I still struggle with the more artistic side of ballet. I was wondering if you had any advice on how to improve that since I was never really taught how to incorporate that into my dancing. Thank you so much!!

    So I'm fifteen and I'm auditioning for a summer intensive for the first time this month and I'm crazy scared. Any advice?

    I probably audition for one in a few years and I will definitely not be worried about people having longer legs (I'm practically all legs) I'm worried about get lost in different styles of dance though, my studio doesn't really have a style so I'll have no idea what to do!

    Thank you for this and happy new year! I was wondering what you would consider some of the "prestige" programs. I attended the ABT New York summer intensive in 2016, and I've heard many mixed reviews on the prestige of the ABT programs.

    • @TheConfidentDancer
      @TheConfidentDancer  7 лет назад

      Of course! The programs that most consider to be at the top include the Balanchine programs like SAB and PNB, as well as Houston Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, and Boston Ballet. There are certainly other programs I didn't mention that are prestigious and hard to get into, but those are some of the biggest names that often come up!

    Did u ever know anyone who went to the Joffrey Ballet NYC summer intensive? I'm curious because I'm auditioning and wanted to see what people thought about it :)

    These are great tips, thank you! I'm sorry if you have answered this question already, I am a newer viewer, but what summer intensives did you go to when you were younger/before you joined a company?

      Hey there, I'm glad you found my channel! I've been to the ABT Alabama and NYC Collegiate programs, Houston Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Ballet West, Oklahoma City Ballet, and Atlanta Ballet

    I have a question... I have never been to a ballet audition where you have to do pointe along with flat shoes. So my question is do they give you time to change into your pointe shoes? Or do they usually do pointe first? I usually put a lot of things on my toes for pointe so should I have that on my toes before the audition??

    • @caarlycarter
      @caarlycarter 7 лет назад

      Aleah Zucchi Hi! So usually at an audition you do flat for barre and floor, and during the last 20ish minutes you go to pointe. I hope this helps!

    • @TheConfidentDancer
      @TheConfidentDancer  7 лет назад

      Sorry for my late response! Expressive Dancer is right, and I'd like to add that they do usually give you a 2-5 minutes to put on your shoes so you can decide whether or not that is enough time for you tape your toes and all that! However, at some auditions for more Balanchine schools SAB, PNB, and San Francisco Ballet, they usually have everyone put on their pointe shoes for the whole class if you are over 15 or 16. That kind of information is usually listed on the websites though, so just make sure to do your research!

    • @christinak5452
      @christinak5452 7 лет назад

      Could you maybe do all the taping etc at the start of the day and keep them in for the flat shoe portion? Then you will only have to change shoes and nothing else.

    So I'm fairly new to this channel, but could someone explain to me why she doesn't make videos with her twin sister anymore? Sorry this is probably a really obvious and stupid question but I am genuinely curious...

    • @TheConfidentDancer

      Welcome to the channel! My sister had to stop dancing due to severe foot injuries 4-5 years ago. She now has a great job in business and lives in a different city than I do!

      BTW, I love your channel, it is so helpful! ^_^

    I live in the uk and I don't live very close to any ballet schools connected to a company, do you know of any college courses of ways to get into company's in the uk without going to a professional ballet school eg the Royal ballet school?

    • @TheConfidentDancer
      @TheConfidentDancer  7 лет назад

      Sadly, I don't know much about training opportunities in the UK other than the major ballet schools, however, that certainly doesn't mean that none exist! Are you in high school or are you looking to go to a university for dance in the near future?

    • @imogenelizabeth276

      TwinTalksBallet I'm currently 16 years old and in my final year of secondary school, I'll then go to sixth form for two years and then onto university, I'd love to pursue a career in ballet and I'm worried this isn't possible without attending somewhere like the Royal ballet school, thank you for replying :)

    This video was really helpful! My daughter is auditioning for a few programs by video audition. How long does it usually take to hear back when you audition with a video?

    • @TheConfidentDancer
      @TheConfidentDancer  7 лет назад

      Thank you! It honestly depends on the program since some will review and process video auditions faster or by a guaranteed date while other (usually smaller) programs may be less efficient. I don't have much experience in this area, so I would recommend emailing the programs to ask after waiting a few weeks to get a response.

    Do have any tips for getting into the abt New York summer intensive. I'm also auditioning for Atlanta ballet and Huston ballet summer intensives. Also how is the housing worked out in the website it says unsupervised housing so what does that mean?

    • @TheConfidentDancer
      @TheConfidentDancer  7 лет назад

      Other than listing the NYC as your first choice on your audition form, my tips would be the same as what I said in the video. If you are asking about the housing for ABT in New York, that means that you will likely have to find a housing situation on your own and there will be no chaperone from the ballet to look after you.

    Do you have any tips for young dancers in class/stretching, or in general? Thank you I love your videos, they are very interesting and fun to watch! Also can your sister do an update for us?

    • @TheConfidentDancer
      @TheConfidentDancer  7 лет назад +2

      Thank you! My biggest tips are to do small stretches when you are not warm, eventually working your way up to big stretches when you are warmer and looser (i.e. the splits). Always be sure to breath, relax, and hold the stretches for at least 20 to 30 seconds (1 minute is ideal if you are really trying to gain flexibility), and NEVER bounce are yank your muscles while stretching!

    • @sarabills4890
      @sarabills4890 7 лет назад

      TwinTalksBallet Thank you so much! I love your videos, and I find that doing other stretches before the splits makes it easier and better, but in class, my muscles are never stretched enough to reach the best split I have done. I will definitely try! Thanks again for replying!
