Buttermilk Falls is a nice swimming hole, but Robert Treman is even better. Best of all was Taughannock 25-30 years ago when they didn't patrol it and didn't have the Overlook station. Wife and I went for a swim there, and it was SO COLD! After you went numb, it was great, though. You'd surely get tossed out of the park these days with an expensive ticket, but I'm so glad we had the opportunity to swim there years ago.

I can't even imagine how cool it would be to swim at taughannock. That sounds awesome

@@MikeGetsLost It really was! I got right under the falls for a few minutes, but water falling from that height can really slap you on the back, so I didn't stay long. It was a very memorable day.

Is Taughannock Falls higher than Niagara Falls?
Located just outside Trumansburg in Central New York, Taughannock Falls State Park hosts more than 560,000 visitors yearly. As the tallest free-falling waterfall in the northeastern United States, Taughannock rises 215 feet, making it 33 feet taller than Niagara Falls. The gorge walls themselves tower 400 feet.

Not sure, it may have been just a thing during covid (when we were there) but there were still people swimming up stream out of view of the life guard

    How long is the hike?

It’s like a mile and a half up the gorge and back down the rim. Feels longer since there’s so many stairs and it was our third hike that day
