- VN24 - 04/26/2022 - Unna A1 / Germany - In the afternoon (April 26), a serious traffic accident occurred on the A1 freeway southbound in the direction of Cologne. Two trucks were involved. One of the drivers had apparently overlooked an end of a traffic jam shortly before the Unna-Zentrum junction. According to current information, a 43-year-old man was driving his tandem tractor-trailer on the right lane in the direction of Cologne at around 1:10 pm. Shortly before the Unna-Zentrum junction, he had to brake his truck to a standstill due to traffic. A 62-year-old truck driver from Cologne apparently recognized the situation too late, steered his flatbed truck to the right in the direction of the hard shoulder, but still collided with the left half of the vehicle with the truck of the man in front of him. The man from Cologne was trapped in his cab and had to be rescued by the fire department. A rescue helicopter took the man, who was seriously but not life-threateningly injured, to a hospital. The 43-year-old man was uninjured.

Always like the team work between these two guys from Kollmer. Some great close up shots VN24, as usual . Hope your well .
They work well together but they should not rely only on the underlift when lying under the vehicle. They should have left the wooden blocks under the wheels until they had finished chaining the axle and disconnecting the drive shaft.

Can’t blame road conditions this time. So what is it? Speed, falling asleep or distraction or a combination of all of them. These accidents seem to be on the increase nowadays.

Always amazes me me how this type of accident continues to happen. The driver of the MAN seriously injured, he is lucky to be alive. As usual a good recovery & clean up by the Kollmer crew.
Kollmer crew are slacking off. They usually have two cranes and two heavy wreckers with the beast for a tow away. Give them points for a huge dumpster truck to put a couple pieces of small fiberglass fragments in though.

Great video VN24. It always amazes me that the spend Hundereds of thousands on a recovery truck but won't spend a few hundred on a decent pair of wheel stands!

Gute Arbeit an alle Retter danke! Dem verletzten gute Besserung. Aber was mir in letzter Zeit immer mehr aufgefallen ist, daß wenn ein Lkw aus dem Ostblock am unfall schuld ist, werden die Nummernschilder zum großen Teil verpixelt, aber nicht bei Deutschen Lkws.
Ich weiß nicht ob du ein Problem mit den Augen hast aber ich konnte die Kennzeichen, auch der ausländischen Fahrzeuge gut erkennen!😉
Automatic braking might have helped. Good attempt by the truck driver to avoid a more serious collision. Great work by the Kollmer crew to quickly and efficiently clear the roadway. Lastly, great video work and blurring of the business name.

Maybe he should turn left in this case, so the driver more or less not be safer than turn right
@@dannychan90192 Turning left might have placed him in more danger. The driver avoided certain death by driving right. Look at the damages to the other vehicle. They were minor compared to other collisions recorded by VN24.

During the collision, the driver should avoid hitting the front car at the driver . Hopefully there's no body sit on the right.

@@dannychan90192 Turning left would have lessened his injuries but would have put his truck into the second lane and would probably have resulted in other vehicles being involved.
Be that as it may, in these circumstances a driver rarely has time to consider his options.
I always fear for those guy's safety when they crawl around under a truck (to disengage the drive shaft) 😨

Haben die da bei Unna irgendwelche Probleme mit Wasseradern oder wollen die alle nur von einem der beiden fast schon berühmten Abschleppdienste bei Unna abgeschleppt werden? Mir ist schon vollkommen unverständlich, wie man überhaupt ein Stauende übersehen kann - aber die Häufung bei Unna oder in der Gegend ist ja nicht mehr normal.
Hat sich das noch nicht herumgesprochen, dass es da in der Gegend Staus gibt? Oder haben die Raststätten da ein paar Kilometer vor Unna irgendwie Schlafmittel im Kaffee? :-)

Many new trucks are available with systems that warn drivers that they are following too close and the drivers hate them beeping at them. It seems that the only way to prevent such crashes is having vehicles that drive themselves.
