We've dealt with HFM so many times, our kids always show the symptoms before there's spots. We've been told they are contagious as long as they have spots, as long as they have a fever, that they "shed" the virus for up to a month after - its ridiculous how little you can do for it and from our experience we've seen 5 different pediatricians at our practice and each one says something different about how long to keep them home. Swap Tylenol and Motrin every 4-6 hours and lots of cold drinks- that's all we've found helpful :(
It's definitely hand foot and mouth. Start cleaning all the surfaces you can to stop the spread of the virus. You and Cullen could easily get it too. Hope they feel better soon.
The rash definitely looks like it!
Most adults don't get it since we've been exposed to it. My oldest got it before my youngest came and I didn't get it then. Last week my youngest got it and he was the only one who got it and it was also bad.
Hands Down!!! It's that virus with both kids going to a class they probably go it from their classroom.
I work at a daycare and this definitely looks like hand foot mouth to me. It starts with a fever and once the rash starts it means its already not contagious anymore. Be careful with changing diapers and make sure you're washing your hands a lot, its actually fairly easy for adults to catch as well.
I've been told that is contagious as long as they HAVE a rash, and sometimes longer. It's very contagious and shows up as a cold in adults, so adults shouldn't expose others if they experience those symproms soon after. By pediatricians and my own research.
I also work at a childcare and I have heard the same about once the rash is gone they are no longer contagious. They usually get it a three days before the rash shows up. I did hear however that it is a lot harder to catch for children and adults over the age of seven.
We are just getting over hand foot mouth! My pediatrician told me he was contagious for 3-5 days after his fever was gone. He had it twice this past time no rash (there were spots on his throat and roof of his mouth. The first time he had rash on his face and legs.)
HFM is contagious up until the last spot goes away then after that it's contagious up to 3 more weeks
I had it twice as and adult, not fun. Contagious until rash goes away.
We dealt with HFM too many times. My little girl never got it on her feet just her mouth, face hands and bottom. They told us to do half malox and half children's Benadryl. The malox coats the throat and mouth sores and the Benadryl helps with the itching. And of course treat the fever like normal. Oatmeal baths were awesome for her too. I hope those babies feel better soon
Unfortunately, Brooks' rash looks exactly like Hand Foot Mouth Disease. If Gaines gets a rash within the next 1-2 days it's HFMD. The only thing you can do is give them something to bring down the fever because it is a virus antibiotics won't help.
I was thinking it would turn out to be HFMD. That sh*t runs rampant in pre-schools. You're going to want to disinfect everything, especially their school bags.
Gaines is so advanced for her age and she's also a beautiful little girl, beauty and brains, hope Gaines and Brooks are feeling better 💜💙
I can only hope to be half as good a mom as Katie...something about her tone and approach to everything is just so comforting and loving...keep it up Katie you're raising amazing kiddos 💗

My goodness, praying for the kids to feel better. As a parent of 4 I know illnesses can be the most difficult times. Stay strong and try and take care of yourselves as well so you can continue to give the kids the awesome care that you give them.

gael crane Nah. Missy would fall apart if she didn't have her family and money. Katie is a smart, strong independant lady. Bonnie is another woman who would fall apart I'd it wasn't for her husband doing everything she tells him do.
My goodness your poor babies! Thoughts and prayers for Macy and Brooks to have a quick recovery. Cullen and Katie you both are AMAZING parents...you have the best family.
When I saw his face I thought hand foot and mouth immediatly. Make sure you guys disinfect everything because when adults get it, it's very painful!!

Gaines Talks so well for an almost three year old. I mean u can actually carry a conversation with her. Most little kids are hard to understand at that age.

Hand foot and moth is rough. My kids both had it and barely had and spots. It presents it self different in every kid. Prayers they feel better soon!
Two of my kids have had hand foot and mouth. They just felt really rotten for about 5 days. They slept a lot the first few days of the virus, too. They misdiagnosed my first as strep. Both had spots in diaper area, in mouth and just a few on hands and feet. Hope the kids feel better soon! Blessings to you!

My 14 month old twins have hand foot and mouth right now, theirs is very mild though and not on the palms or bottoms of their feet. One of them has two sores in her mouth and one spot on her face and the other has more spots on the tops of her feet and on the top of a couple fingers. The fevers were rough but they are still contagious as long as they have the rash. Prayers Gaines and Brooks get over it quickly! 💕
Y'all need to get them in. That is Hand Foot and mouth. Sores can appear either in the mouth or on the mouth on the legs hands buttocks and feet. Usually accompanied with fevers between 101 and 103. And since Gaines was exposed and she went to school the school needs to be notified as well. If left untreated or in some cases children can be hospitalized. Please inform whatever school they go to. And please get them in.
I am glad Brooks is feeling better. Poor Gaines. To help lower her temperature give her a lukewarm bath. Don't feel bad you didn't know that she would get it too. 😷🤒 prayers for speedy recovery. Just looking at her eyes you can tell she doesn't feel good.

Awww poor babies. I'm older, and I even got hand, foot, and mouth a few months ago...hurt so bad! Praying that they get over this! Best way to keep the virus contained is to put gloves and socks on them, sleep, and use a throat spray, all clear it up very fast!

If it's hand, foot, and mouth disease don't be worried if their nails fall off! My kids had it and it freaked me out when weeks after things cleared up their nails fell off.
Same thing happened to me and my daughter with HFM...ugh.
My kids both have had hand foot and mouth and neither had a rash on their feet or hands. Both had internal rash in the mouth, throat, and on the face. Both have 103+ fevers for about 3 days that would barely go below 100. Pretty miserable babies but they did get over it finally. I runs rampant in schools, preschools, and day cares here. Sending prayers that your babies feel better soon!
If it's hand foot and mouth it will make the mouth hurt depending on how bad it is it resembles that to me and you have to literally disinfect everything they eat touch and drink from constantly or they just reinfect themselves it's hard to rid
Also with hfm you are confined to home I couldn't have My son out anywhere or have anyone over for a week even two weeks depending on how bad it was

Definitely HFM! First comes the fever and then the rash. Be careful because adults can get it too. My daughter had it and my husband got it and had it for TWO WEEKS. awful! Praying for your babies!

Hope both the kids get well soon!!!! My son had a fever off and on for 2 weeks. He had a bad virus and poison ivy and an allergic reaction to medicine all in 3 weeks. So pitiful

Awww it's so hard when our little ones are sick and all we can do is try to keep them comfortable until the virus runs it's course. And when they are little they get sick lots as they build up their immunity. I hope the kids are feeling better soon.
