Impossible to argue with you there. This particular version is one of the very few exceptions in which I generally don't like live versions of my favorite songs. I've watched it countless times since buying the video archive DVD from the BX on Guam my first week stationed there in 2002, almost exactly 19 years ago...still can't get enough of it.
Voice seems to be a bit low, but still the greatest. And, the guitar players play like i've never heard before. i thought it was a recording. it's even better. it's really a masterpiece
That bone, chilling ambience at the end solo of this song is amazing, such great collaboration by Phill and Viv. Rip Steve Clark, he would be proud and have chills in his spine after hearing this.

Phil Collen's Jackson cuts through EVERYTHING in this one! Love it! Along with Vivian's sweet licks thrown in throughout...best live version of Love Bites in my opinion
Vivian is so underrated. Joe didn't talk about him in his speech when they were at the Hall Of Fame, and I really think that Vivian deserves more credit and recognition for what he has done for Def Leppard. I know that the era in which the band had their big moment was when Steve was still alive. But we really need to appreciate Viv. He had cancer and he is healthy now, what a strong human being. In this show, he played a solo that had not only his own vibe but also this song's vibe. He could make this song sound even more emotional than it already is, or at least that's how I felt it. I think Steve would be very proud of him. He's terrific.
Vivian Campbell is a phenomenal guitar player. His guitar playing on Dio's first three studio albums are insanely amazing. He also played amazingly on Whitesnake's 1987-1988 tour. Vivian is such an amazing technical guitar player that all his years in being in Def Leppard he had changed his style of guitar playing to fit in Def Leppard's style. Even though his guitar playing in Def Leppard has been simplified since he joined the band back in 1992, he has always played from his heart with alot of emotion. Viv in my opinion is one of the greatest guitar players ever because he can do all the technical guitar playing , but he can also adapt his guitar playing to any band he plays with. Def Leppard are most definitely lucky that they have Viv in the band. His guitar playing is different than Steve Clark's was, but they both played with feeling and from the heart. Even though the other band members may have never acknowledged Viv's importance to the band. For him to have been in the band close to 30 years I would think that they have appreciated him for everything he has added and done with the band.
Vivian is great. He’s undeniably the most technically skilled guitarist the band has ever had. I still much prefer Steve as a songwriter and as a performer. You can see here how still the band is compared to the energy they had on the hysteria tour. Nevertheless I think Viv is a great player and he does a good job recreating Steve’s parts in his own way. I’d say I prefer viv over Phil for sure.
Vivian is an okay player, but a complete asshole. Glad Joe did not mention him. Steve and Pete Willis were the def lepp sound Phil and viv were never able to forge.
The best version of a masterpiece, even better than the studio recording, real artists, real voice, real instruments, especially the last part, where Vivian is unlesahed

Def Leppard should release this whole show on CD and DVD/Blu-ray when the album Adrenalize reaches it's 30th anniversary in two years for a deluxe edition. I will never understand why they have never released it before . This is one of their best shows ever. The band was on top form, and Joe's singing was still very powerful. I would definitely buy it if it ever came out. I do have a bootleg of this show that I got back in the late 90's called The Circus Comes To Town and the sound quality is good for a bootleg. Now with the remastering they can do with today's technology it would sound better than ever. I agree with many on this video post that this is the best live version of Love Bites. I love the guitar playing Viv does near the end of the song. It adds so much more to the song and makes it better.
Love Hysteria's "in the round" era, but in my opinion their performances between '92 and '93 were magical. Great Viv's backing vocals. Great band's shape.
This brings so many memories. I was still at primary school. MTV Europe , pirate antenna , mom cleaning the house and dancing to this when this came on. I asked for the tape for Christmas to play in my imitation Sony walkman. Eventually ended up buying it with Christmas carols money and to this day now much older I have the original vinyl and CD in my car. I will never forget how this music changed my life.

what proves a good band? They play ballads so good in live performance. Lots of bands (including the famous bands) failed to perform their ballads songs as good as in the record and sounded so 'empty'..
stage presence is everything. tho this video didn't sound as good cause it isn't high quality. but i've been to a couple of their concerts a while back. they did put on a good show. nowadays not soo much ahah they're old now. except for that phil collen guy looks even bigger now than he did way back in the day, steroids lol? and also nobody can say shit about rick allen still playin with one arm today and he plays barefooted. thats crazy.
its because they are in a sound proof studio room when they record albums. thats why it sounds better. but there are some bands that still do sound great live! like ac/dc. metallica. i've even been to a paramore concert before. they sound great live!
I have quite an eclectic taste In music, all types all eras but this song & in particular this live version will always mean so much to me just because it is such a beautiful, perfect song!
They are one of very few bands who sound epic live because they are all great vocalists. Not just Joe with backup singers like so many bands. And it's actual live singing, not backing tracks. Amazing like always.
How is Joe Elliot such a hard rocker yet his voice is so crisp? He still sounds amazing today it’s just that here he has that angry raspy voice that fits so well.
Still makes me tingle every time I play this song! I might be coming up to my 50s, but I am so privileged to have had some of the best rock songs growing up in the 1980s ! Xx
