    Ecosystem :
An ecosystem is a functional unit consisting of living and non-living things that work together with mutual dependence to sustain a long-lasting system.
All the interacting living organisms in an area together with nonliving components form an ecosystem. So an ecosystem consists of both biotic(living creatures) and abiotic components like temperature, rainfall, wind, soil, etc.
    Ozone layer:
The ozone layer is the outermost layer of earth composed of ozone gas which protects the earth from UV rays which causes cancer and other defects in living organisms. Ozone layer lets only some of the UV rays reach the surface of the earth.
    ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS
Changes in the environment affect us and our activities change the environment around us. Environmental problems caused by humans:
    (a) depletion of the Ozone Layer and waste disposal.
    (b) pollution due to mismanagement of waste disposal.
    Reason of Ozone Depletion
Excessive use of CFCs (Chloro Fluoro Carbon) a synthetic, inert chemical E.g. Freon which is used as refrigerants and in fire extinguishers, caused Ozone depletion in the upper atmosphere. A single chlorine atom can destroy 1,00,000 Ozone molecules. U.N.E.P. (United Nation Environment Programme)did an excellent job in forging an agreement to freeze CFC production at 1986 levels (KYOTO Protocol) by all countries.
    Prevention
For prevention from the depletion of the ozone layer, there is an organization (United Nation Environment Programme) in which most of the countries are agreeing to not to produce harmful gases that will damage ozone layer.

    Sir, I've a doubt.
There is Ozone depletion due to production of CFCs in excessive amount and CFCs are produced by AC, refrigerator, fire extinguisher.
So why depletion of ozone is occurring in Antarctica however there is no any use of these machines in Antarctica??

    • @Defence_Faith
      @Defence_Faith 2 года назад +3

And this wind forms due to an effect known as Coriolis Effect in this effect we know that earth rotates about its axis so when wind move from north to south it diverts from its actual axis and starts to move toward east or west. Same also happens in antartica where this effect is larger because it is situated at pole

    • @sakshijadhav4556

Ozone is measured in what are called Dobson units. A Dobson unit of gas is equal to a layer of gas, at the surface of the Earth, with a thickness of one hundredth of a millimeter. The ozone in the atmosphere is about 300 Dobsons.
