    I loved this video, especially watching you do the color conversion and how you start! Thank you for that because I’m always so afraid if I use a different color floss I’ll mess things up! Love seeing your progress on all your projects and your honesty when you feel you are “done”….. so refreshing. ❤❤❤

    Girl!!! You are getting so much done on all your projects!!! Can I even tell you how much I am enjoying this format? And how neat it was to see you do an actual color conversion in person?? Just amazing, all of it. You have so many neat projects that I have not seen before, and I was excited to learn about the 20 count Aida by Fiber On A Whim. They are one of my favorite dyers, so now I will have to check out their Aida, too. 😂 Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for doing this, I just love it all, and that’s the truth! Please take good care of yourself, so you don’t get sick and burn out. My two cents? As time goes on, our tastes and interests change…don’t be too hard on yourself about Dark Queen…whatever you decide will be the right thing for YOU! ☺️ Until next time, Happy Stitching!

    just reiterating how much i love this format-it's a lot of fun watching your progress on so many different things during the week! i am an atom heart convert thanks to brijin's video and they are absolutely worth it even if they're expensive. i use the bobbins for my dmc and any of my fancy floss goes on the heart ones, just so i can pick them out at a glance. meanwhile, i have started gridding everything with sulky sliver because i am HOPELESS at getting the piece placed correctly even if i measure and re-measure. and because i'm completely extra, i grid the center axis in red and then i go back and do the actual grid in blue. it's been worth the timesuck for me because i don't have to spend time frogging nearly as much as i did before.

      I love that! I’m a big believer in prepping everything that makes stitching on the project more comfortable ahead of starting. so you can just pick it up and stitch and turn your brain off 😊

    99.9% of my charts are color conversions of some degree. Usually it's just substituting some DMC since I don't have a master stash but I've gotten enough fancy floss to start substituting some key colors for a bit of pop in my patterns.
    Another great resource for people doing DMC to DMC substitutes is Thread Bare. Their website has a closest DMC table under Tools and Calculators. You plug in a DMC color and it will give you all the DMC options it considers close substitutes. It's not perfect but it's a great starting point if you are missing a few pattern colors.
    I also finally splurged on a floss DMC color chart and it makes a world of difference. I use floss bags so it's a hassle going through the collection but now I can use the DMC table, the chart, and various fancy floss conversion tables (primarily I use the ones on 123stitch) to make my conversions at my desk instead of spread across my whole craft room.
    Oh, and the notion app. Stitchy Nati has a Stitchery Notion template on their gumroad that's amazing! And I think she has a youtube video showing how to use it for people new to the program. I have all my fancy floss with photos entered into it. I have a second computer monitor that I can pull it up on instead of pulling out those flosses or finding a photo on a retailer site. It also has a place for color conversions on the project pages. For some reason I am awful at keeping up with written project trackers but every few months I spend a day updating my notion. Luckily, I don't finish enough that I can't figure out what I converted 😂

    Love how you do your color conversions was super helpful to see you do it live. Only back to stitching a year now and so much has changed since 30 years ago, lol. I am making a master set with atom heart as well, since it takes awhile to cut do the floss etc I get a bag of 100 once every three months or so, makes it affordable that way. Happy stitching

    ❤❤❤ let me tell you! The struggle, is real ! So relatable when the queen of the earth came up and you didn’t want to Stitch on it glad you rolled again. Every single time you talk about DND makes me think about this Heaven And Earth design that I started. Haven’t touch in years. 😅 it’s called: 20 sided diced fairy. I did not know that you could sing 🫶🏽 thank you for your clear explanations about how you do your color conversions and by the way, my boyfriend liked the Magnus achieves podcast that you suggested. Thank For the time that you put into your video 🙏🏽🎉🤗

    I appreciate this discussion because I struggle with it. My floss is stored in floss away bags so I can’t easily see the color clearly. I should buy one of those DMC books that have floss samples when I find it. Thanks again Cam!

    I dont know if it’s a dumb question, but why make a color conversion when you have all the dmc colors? I’m new to cross stitch, so I dont know anything 😂 Anyway, this was a really informative and enjoyable episode 😊

    • @camthestitcher
      @camthestitcher  3 месяца назад +2

      It depends! So for the project in this video, i wanted to use some overdyed flosses instead of all dmc’s. Overdyed flosses have verigation in the color so you get a different effect stitching with them. Another reason is maybe I don’t like the called for colors, so I’ll replace them with different dmc’s to make it more for me ☺️

    • @Martemart7
      @Martemart7 3 месяца назад +1

      @@camthestitcher Thank you for explaining 😊 I’ll have to check out the overdyed colors!

    I need advice on how do you find time to stitch so much?

    • @camthestitcher
      @camthestitcher  3 месяца назад +1

      Short answer: No kids, I’m a homebody, my partner plays video games while I stitch and it’s just an activity I love to do a lot and I make time for it. I will also say I stitch while I watch tv, listen to audiobooks or podcasts. I’m definitely a multi-tasker. I also work from home and my partner and I do an equal amount of housework which is a big help so we both have time for each other and our hobbies ☺️
