It wasn't a choice, that is how a hereditary monarchy or a hereditary dynasty works. The first male child born is heir to the throne, which was changed with The Succession to the Crown Act (2013), championed by Queen Elizabeth II, which amended the provisions of the Bill of Rights and the Act of Settlement to end the system of male firstborn, under which a younger son was able to displace an elder daughter in the line of succession. The Act applies to those born after 28 October 2011.
@@sandyfeet9502 Exactly what was said below about the name he chose as King . This video is incorrect about that. I never said that he didn’t want to be King and know how the monarchy works with the recent changes.
I don’t think so. She had complex relationships with her children but that’s an exaggerated falsehood. She wasn’t cruel and she was supportive, but she could be capricious when she became angry at one of her children. The ones in favor frequently rotated. For a monarch, she kept engaged with her children and grandchildren and sheshowed interest in all of them. . They all loved and respected her and this says more about her than anything. I think this video only emphasizes the negative stereotypes which give an unbalanced and biased perspective of a far more complicated situation.
The tragedy followed this family to its very last member, the death of the little Princess Johanna. I live nearby Darmstadt and sometimes like to visit the huge and beautiful garden/park of the family von Hessen, with the graves, of its tragically died members, in the middle of it. I was devastated, when I read the story of Ernst Ludwig von Hessen(and of his children and grandchildren)the only remained child of Alice

She was the typical upper class mother.

We can be grateful in that Queen Victoria’s weakness, we’re Queen Elizabeth’s strengths.
Albeit two Monarchs, at two very different times.
Enjoy the history of Royals. Thank you.
Her older brother wasn’t Prince Edward. He was Prince Albert Edward, known as Bertie. He chose to be King Edward

Victoria was a classic narcissistic mother! Uggh! Cant stand her!
These biographies only talk about the worst characteristics of people like Queen Victoria. She had many good ones too, she really did.
Victoria was a mean spiteful woman who did not want any of her kids happy.🤐🤨😵💫
