Anni-Frid Lyngstad's low notes in "Dancing Queen"

- "Dancing Queen" is a very complex ABBA song when it comes to vocals. While it features the distinctive "third voice" harmony between Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid "Frida" Lyngstad, there are also moments where you can hear each singer's voice more prominently.
Agnetha dominates in the chorus. Her vocals are high and bright, almost metallic in some places, and she rightfully gets a lot of praise for a pristine A3 belted near the end of the song (unfortunately hidden in the mix for the casual listener, but easy to hear once you know it's there).
Frida dominates in the verses. Her voice is low and gentle, almost feathery in some places. She manages to get quite deep on the word "dance"...which is impressive given that she was a mezzo and not a contralto.
Low notes are not given as much attention as high notes, typically. Still, the gentleness of Frida's voice in this song deserves some attention!

My friend and I would sing to ABBA when we were 7 years old in 1978… I would pretend to be Frida because I was brunette and my friend was blond. My dad would set up the microphone on the record player and we’d dance on the bluestone hearth … what great memories! ❤️🙏❤️🇦🇺❤️

Truthfully, I was a little jealous of my friend and her beautiful curly blond hair …I really did want to be Agnetha. I also had an issue with the fact they had to adjust Fridas name to fit the ABBA title.
All that does not take away from my amazing childhood memories of singing along to the abba record, spinning in the ‘radiogram’ 😉☺️

I (boy) always liked Frida - I think because (it seemed) the rest of the world was crazy over the beautiful sexy blonde, and I found the other more mature (and sultry)! I now think they were both beautiful, and all four contributed to the wonderful thing that is ABBA.

Frida's voice is, in fact, hard to categorize; her range exceeds both that of a contralto and that of a mezzo.
It seems like she could hit notes on all three categories: soprano, mezzo, and contralto. Her voice was definitely lower pitched when compared to a true soprano like Agnetha, and her highs were a little more light and feathery, but she definitely had a versatile voice.
