Let me tell you a little story. The year was 1998 which I believe was a year after or of the release of the Original Barbie Girl Song. It was my cousins 7th birthday (we were a couple months apart) and she had a Barbie themed birthday with alllll her girl friends and me, the only boy. I was very shy and super nervous around girls and this was just an absolute nightmare. It came time to play Pin the Tail on the Donkey (or Pin the shoes on Barbie?) and they started playing Barbie Girl. IMAGINE you’re biggest fear, you multiply that by 10, then you’re blindfolded in the middle of said fear. This house had a really rickety old door to the basement next to the front door, only held by one of those small cheap hooks and metal loop things. I had leaned on that door weeks before and fell backwards down the stairs. Important to note. Back to the party it was my turn and they started to spin me around. As I spun I could feel my sense of direction evaporating and my anxiety reaching extreme highs. They let go and I’m trying to find my way while everyone is shouting, but I start to feel like I’m close to the basement door and get paralyzed in fear. I feel as if I’m going to fall backwards into a bottomless pit with (as my older cousin said) a “portal to hell and man eating rats down there”. I drop to the floor and just bawl my eyes out, in front everyone. Panic attack at the Barbie Party. Obviously these girls are like “uh, it’s he ok?” I couldn’t listen to that song for years after that, just weirdly hated it? But this definitely brought it back to my playlist and I for sure look back at that and laugh because I’m still afraid but now it’s women :0 lol Anyways thank’s for another banger bro :)
