Because of your credible review I decided to get the Skitch and try it out myself. I have not been disappointed. I have experience embroidering on a high end machine and I’m still impressed with this machine. So many of the negative reviews are related to the disappointment with the app or unrealistic expectations. Machine embroidery has a high learning curve as it relates to troubleshooting the design and adjustment to make on the machine. For example, my high end machine does not embroider well with certain brands of thread (tension/breakage issue). Experience taught me to change the thread brand with success. This machine has an open arm, magnetic hoop, auto threading, cuts the jump stitches, low bobbin warning, camera placement and an embroidery screen as big as you want (any iPad size). The speed is not an issue for my use because I always slow my high end machine down so it doesn’t scoot off the table! You can transfer/store up to 20 of your designs on the app for free. I only need 1 transfer because all my designs are stored on my iPad/cloud with easy access. I purchase or digitize my own designs so not having full access to the app designs was never a deal breaker. This machine does not replace a larger embroidery machine and I don’t think it was intended to. However, it has many high end features and I’m very pleased with it. I do hope that Brother adds a 5x7 hoop. Thanks for your review. PS, the app is cool too because I also have the Scan n CutDX and the same app can also operate it too on a much bigger screen. My IPad! I have yet to see a machine embroidery screen bigger than my 11” or 12” iPad.

There is a low bobbin warning. It comes up on your phone or tablet when it's getting low.

I love my Skitch! Thank you for the positive review. I make free standing lace and I am able to load my designs from various designers into Artspira. The only thing I wish the Skitch had is a light! I love the free arm for monogramming on bags. Last thing-I uploaded a photo of artwork, was able to digitize it on Artspira and embroider it on my Skitch-mind blowing!!!

I have a nice flatbed and want to
Use this to embroider names on pockets or onesies. For the price I am going to try it after this review. I do wish it cut jump stitches but it is $500 😂. I just watched rest of your video and you say it cuts jump stitches. That is phenomenal for the price range and hoop size.

Loved the video because of Michelle... very knowledgeable and provided lots of good info. Sorry, Patrick...but I feel like you kept cutting her off and not letting her finish what she had to say. It could just be me as I have not had my second cup of coffee. hehe
I bought my machine... it will be my irst time ever using an embroidery machine. Both of you provided good info to make me feel less fearful. Thanks!

All my designs are on my laptop which is windows. How would I bring over a design into Artspira

You would need to create a folder you can access on the device you use for artspira (phone or tablet)

Thank you for your video, very informative, I’ve ordered this machine and it is on its way, I live in Canada, but really want this machine so I’m taking the risk, the machine is unavailable in Canada so I won’t have any support or technical support from Brother Canada , so I’m hoping all goes well. Another big concern of mine was only being able to use this with the app, so I’m hoping that app stays relevant and up-to-date for years to come, or all consumers of this machine are going to be very unhappy.

Learn how to fix your own machines. Even if you have a service center near you. It's helpful and usually faster.
Don't think about this app as something separate from the machine that they'll just stop supporting. That's not what it is. It's simply an external controller. No different than a screen with software installed on the machine.
Even if they got rid of some features of the app down the road, they're never going to stop supporting it. It's the controller for the machine.
That would break people's machines and not allow them to sell them. Most likely a class action lawsuit would come from that.

II wish you had spent time demonstrating the embroidery in action. Why? The claim on this channel is that the Brother PP1 is an amazing embroidery machine in a small form factor, but what you may not be aware of is that there are more returns due to bad tension, threads breaking, bobbins popping out, and the Artspira app's embroidery files being junk, whether paid or unpaid subscriptions. I too can testify how bad the PP1 is; I had three, and all failed the tension test. What's worse, importing an embroidery file for 4x4 stitches was just a mess - the same file I used over and over with my other machines without issue. The reason has to do with the app's importing structure and its failure to read stitches correctly.
Yeah, it would have been nice to see a few projects live for us to view the end results. As for negative reviews don’t take my word, it’s all over social media and comments on retailers.

Yeah there have been quite a few bad reviews, but I have found that most of them are from people that don't know what they're doing.
The last thing I'm going to do is use reviews from beginners anyway, which most of them seem to be since a lot of the snobs didn't like this machine right off the bat, "bEcaUse tHE aPp".
The fact remains that people are successfully using this machine. I do 3D printing and there are lots of people that don't know how to use the same machine that I have and give it bad reviews simply because they lack the skills. It's almost always user error. I imagine it's the same thing with this machine. Some people just don't have that machine learning ability to figure out what is causing their issue.
If I had a nickel for every time I read bad reviews about something just to get it myself and have no issues.
Btw, I'm skeptical you went through three of them. Also, there are other videos on RUclips demonstrating it's embroidery abilities.

@@DingleBerryschnapps I must agree with your point of view: some (not all) people experience issues with their devices and don’t know how to use them. That said, more returns for the PP1 occur not solely due to user errors but also because of poor quality. It was rushed to the market. The primary factor for all of those returns is "tension." Only a few units that hit the market after production had no tension issues. I could almost guarantee that turning the tension dial during embroidery will do nothing, most likely. All three units I tried had tension issues.
The second issue is importing files into Artspir’s app, which is a hit and miss (paid version). The app struggles with complex files, transferring, and sending them to the PP1. Sometimes, it will not stitch accurately from the original file. The app also has difficulty decoding external files.
That said, you stated, "the fact remains that people are successfully using this machine," and that statement alone does not show the full picture. It is not a fact but an assumption. My contacts for global sales, besides dealing with Joann’s distribution center, indicate that the number of returns is higher than for any other Brother sewing or embroidery machines. Additionally, Amazon has fulfilled more returns on PP1 than anyone would imagine. These returns are mostly not due to user errors but rather poor quality that should not have gone to market as soon as it did. And it seems your content with the performance of your PP1 and that is a good. You’re the lucky ones to have a PP1 working from the start. And I wouldn’t want to wish anything less.
And just to end here, you mention other videos demonstrating its embroidery videos on RUclips, where? There are just a few. There is only one major RUclips Content Creator “Sewing Reports” that has spent many hours with her videos for the PP1, it’s not all positive. And the very few out there don’t even notice the bottom thread is showing on top. There isn’t much on RUclips with the exception I stated for the PP1. Anyhow, it’s god news your PP1 is doing good and wish it continue many more years to come.😎
