    The matchplate was upside down, but he made it work. If this was used as educational material in a classroom as some of the comments indicate, I hope it inspired some of the kids to dig deeper on their own and learn more about the methods and proper tools a more experienced molder would use. It would have worked on me. I wish I'd had the opportunity to learn how much I love sand molding before I turned 40.

    If you packed the sand tight enough in the drag you wouldn't need the molding board to keep the sand from falling out when you flipped the drag. I cant remember the last time any of my sand fell out of the drag.

    I have never seen a worse job of making and casting a sand mould! So many mistakes made here that this video should be ignored - it is a very bad example of the art and science of foundry! The thought that it is being used in schools is appalling. Please either tell people that this is NOT how to do it or take the video down. Martin
