  • Dive into the world of Judima, the revered rice brew adorned with a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, marking its authentic ties to the rich traditions of the Dimasa community in Northeast India.
    Judima is a traditional rice wine predominantly brewed by Dimasa women in Assam. The brew is an integral part of Dimasa culture and society. It is served during all occasions whether it's a celebration or morning ritual.
    In 2021, Judima became the first locally-brewed fermented rice wine from the region to win a GI (Geographical Identification) tag, thus patenting the product and crediting it to the Dimasas who largely inhabit the Dima Hasao district of Assam.

    I think the schwa of the dimasa language should be brought into mainstream, so people should write the "I" vowels after D and T as Dzi and Tzi/tsi. I'm saying this because all tribals in Northeast are updating their system and writing words according to their schwa vowels, unlike the dimasas who are still stuck on the outdated "non-offical" Latin script which was made in an era where literature was less known. Its necessary to write out schwa vowels inorder to deliver a correct pronunciation, the boros call water as dwi, the dimasa call water as "Dzi", the schwa in the "I" Vowel of the boros is "ui" so they write Dwi, kukis also respect their schwa vowels and write water as Twi, our tiprasa brothers too are no exception, they write it Twi(the usage Ti is found in old pages where tiprasa was written using Latin alphabets) the word "Tui" for water is also among them.
    So with respect to the schwa vowels of the dimasa language in order to deliver the correct pronunciation. I think the word judima should be Ju-dzi-ma

      It is both, it's beer because it is made of grains and it is a wine cause it can age like a wine and also it is sweet unlike other beers.

    • @milkytoo
      @milkytoo Год назад +1

      It is beer. Wine is the one which is strong. In dimasa the word for alcohol is Ju. Judi(pronunciation is Ju-dzi) is the beer and Ju-hwaro is that alcohol which is the strong and distlled one. Sometimes people use the word ju-dima to denote dimasa-beer.
