The birds love this feeder. The squirrels are real mad as they can not get to the bird seed. The snow that melts or the rain drips thru as the seeds dry very fast . Remember that our pets and the little creatures we feed do not buy the feed or feeders so looking store bought and fancy is not what they care about . Fancy looking feeders or bird houses or the food are marketed to humans only so try and think like a bird or an animal when your thinking of building or buying a products for them. Cheers Steve

Hey Steve. The braided cable and hanging the feeders off it is a great idea. Nice feeder project.
Thanks for the mention. ❤
It's Squirrel proof so far . Anytime Kenny , was a pleasure.
Like you said, the scraps from the shop is all you need👍 The squirrels from the circus might be able to walk that wire😂
Take care Steve✌
Hi Marc
So far no acrobatical squirrels yet . 🤣😂
Nice job Steve, that’s a great project to feed the birds. Cheers
Thanks Lloyd 👍
Squirrels may find a way up there. I’ve seen them jump pretty far👿😈🙀Good idea that anyone should be able to make. I too think this looks like a pool rack haha ❤😂 Full Stars!🎉
HAHAHA , pool rack , yes I see it too. Thanks Craig
For the birds 👍
Absolutely 🐦🐦⬛🦜
Interesting looking bird feeder Steve. Squirrel proof is da bomb 💣 Thanks Buddy!
Thanks Doug much appreciated.
Nice neat feeder with large open sides to allow for wing clearance and the screen for allowing drainage is smart. The cable to hang from idea is also a good design. For years, We loved feeding and watching birds but had to end it as raccoons, skunks, rats and mice became a big problem. We have bird baths and I make bird houses now of which a squirrel is using as its nest lol - it’s all good, thanks Steve, cheers
Hi Ed
You really should get the camera out and start filming what you do. The cable sure works great so far but I know my squirrels and they are smart but so far I'm outsmarting them 😂🤣
looks good, those are some lucky birds around you lol
Hi Johnathan
Happy bird happy life 😊
How's she goin'? This is another great bird feeder Steve!! Looks easy to make and I like that it is 'squirrel' proof, or at least Squirrel resistant!! LOL Take 'er easy!!
Hi Mike
It's definitely squirrel proof till I see a squirrel that can get to it :) Thanks 👍🐦🐦⬛
@@SteveRobReviews Ha Ha Ha!! I bet they'll try!!
I would like to feed birds, but absolutely hate squirrels. Just made hanging water bowls today!
The wire strung up in the air is working so far at keeping the squirrels away but they are always looking for a new way to get to a food source 😂🤣
lol, I think I have all that material around here. We got things coming up, but I will probably never 100% retire. We are in process of looking for land. #nosqurreils Good job Steve on the bird feeder.
Thanks bud . I'm 100% retired 17 years now 👍
Very nice design, squirrels, do they send out invitations because i think i have 4 extra this spring. Between the crows and squirrels drive me nuts. Little advice, never do anything to piss off crows, they live in families for life and every one will remember you and not leave you alone lol last year i was putting two bolts into the handle of the lawnmower and one came and started squalking so i went towards it to drive it away and two more came behind me and took my two little bolts. Revenge is mine!!!
Jason you need to put up a fine cable to keep the squirrels away. If you see a fake plastic falcon put it out for the crows 👍
@@SteveRobReviews oh never thought. Of falcon
Do you find that those feeders attract mice?
Great question , all my feeders are in the middle of my lawn , about 15-20 feet away from any structure or fence . Mice and rats stay to the outside edges and don't cross into open areas. After every snow I've never seen vermin tracks under the feeders , just squirrels that clean up any spillage during the day.
@@SteveRobReviews Thanks for the thorough reply. Do you have cats around, and thats why they stay out of open areas.
No cats but I do trap vermin all year and not once will they cross out into the open so I never put traps out in the open either , just on the outside edges of my property. I think its just a thing they do.
very cool! Nice easy bird feeder tray project. Love it! 😃
Thanks 👍
The best thing about your setup is that it’s squirrel proof. That’s a good one Steve....CHEERS
Yes good point as the squirrels would have it tore to pieces in no time :)
Cute, but that's not a bird feeder; it's a squirrel feeder. In fact, it would make an interesting video watching the squirrels getting it done.
No squirrels can get to it . ruclips.net/video/jYCCgl9ujCI/видео.html
Have a hart traps
You Must get a lot of birds in your yard. We only have a couple bird feeders and get a ton of birds
Yes absolutely, mostly blue Jay's, cardinals and chickadees . I haven't seen a house wren in 2 years , I had many of them years back , no more .
That’s a pool rack
HAHAHA 👍
Good morning Steve, looks like an easy build. Great for all kinds of different birds, rain runs through, squirrel proof and the sides are high enough to keep the feed inside when the wind blows. Thanks for sharing, Happy Easter, Ben 👋😎👍
Hi Ben
Thanks much appreciated and the birds love it 🐦🐦⬛
Cool idea Rob, easy peasy 👍🏻. Happy Easter to you and the family 🙋🏼♂🇨🇦
Thanks Luc much appreciated. Happy Easter
Looking good!! You'll make many a bird very happy indeed! Happy Easter weekend!
Thanks! You too! Yes the birds are Happy Happy Happy.
That looks like a nice bird feeder and I especially like the screen bottom. However I was disappointed to not see any still shots of birds at the end of the video. ☹
One thought, you could train your squirrels to be high jumpers. Just start the feeder low enough they can jump into it, and raise it gradually. It's amazing what they will do once they think they can do it! A neighbor did this with the deer eating his garden. Started out with a pretty typical fence using four foot welded wire on 5 or 6 foot T posts. Deer jumped over that like no tomorrow. He added another wire to the top of the posts, and they still jumped it. He took off that wire and put on a two foot welded wire with some overlap so it added 16 to 18 inches in height. The deer jumped that also. Two years ago he added more four foot welded wire on top of the four foot base, making an 8 foot high fence. They didn't jump it all last year. This year he took down the added four feet, hoping the 5-1/2 feet (4ft + 2ft - overlap) he has will keep them out.
So what that all means, is if the squirrels jump into your feeder at 4 feet, don't raise it just 6 inches or a foot. Raise it as high as you can!
Good advice 👍. I will be watching for the squirrels getting to the feeders but so far its not interesting them yet :)
It is not that easy to make you have to have the tools..One more like from me.
It's quite easy to make and of course you need some tools and a bit of skill. Most can build this and for those that can't, that's what friends are for 👍🐦🐦⬛
I wish you were my neighbor @@SteveRobReviews
