There is an overall structure for the so-called traditional flamenco bailes.
4 main sections:
1. The Introduction
2. The Body of the Cante
3. The Escobilla
4. The Final Section
It is also a framework from which dancers can develop, invent, experiment, create. From this starting point, like most advanced dancers, you can create your own bailes, your own choreographies.
Once you master the basic global structure you can completely modify it.
You can do everything upside down, you can skip parts, you can add parts, repeat them, make them last longer or shorter, cut them… Everything is possible, as long as you know what you are doing. All you need to know is that the more you move away from traditional structures, the more you will have to explain what you are doing to the singer, the guitarist, the musicians, and the more you’ll have to rehearse with them.
