I bought foam tiles, but they're pre-painted a dark mauve, so I'm not sure what to do about caulking. Is it just for aesthetic reasons or is there a cleaning aspect or something to it? Because I don't have a color match paint for the tiles, I don't know if white would look odd, so maybe clear?

It’s for aesthetics only. So I wouldn’t worry about it if I was you!
