I remember that night very well. I was on a storm chase trip with the storm chase class at the college I graduated from this past Fall. On this particular night, we had arrived in Oklahoma City after our final chase for the trip. I do remember distinctly the quick upgrade to a Moderate Risk, and this included Jefferson City. I was getting ready for bed when I saw a Tornado Warning notification for Jefferson City, and I was like “Ohhhh no.” Shortly afterwards, a massive tornado ripped through part of town. It is probably one of the more ugly tornadoes I have seen photo-wise in recent history.

Exactly because at night time it is kind of a worse time for a tornado or a hurricane to hit where you are but it is night time and you're sleeping and I know that most people would want to sleep but your life is more important than sleep so you need to go ahead and take shelter
NO BC THAT'S THE MOST HORRIFYING TIME FOR A DISASTER TO HAPPEN. PEOPLE ARE SLEEPING AND NOT ALL OF US STAY UP AND WHAT IF U DON'T HAVE A TV OR A PHONE OR SMTH
On July 29, 2021, we had a terrible storm late at night and mom had to take me and my sister into the downstairs area and the EAS came on for a tornado warning but there was no tornado. Scariest night of my life.
Speaking of tornadoes, one night (April 4th 2020, just as the pandemic was starting) at 2:00 AM I was watching Mali of Denali when a Tornado Warning was issued for my county, plus some others around the county. I didn't get it at first, since I was 10 years old at the time, so I went to go get my mom to sleep with me. 5 minutes later, she noticed the wind and checked the channel. Weatherman said for my county to take shelter, so we immediatley woke up my dad and my brother and left to my Grandma's house just down the road. Thankfully, the tornado didn't get close to our home, but I didn't know what the warning was about until the weatherman stated for my county to take shelter. Now I know.
I'm an angel I was there about three years ago they had me in jail all the time there are people in that town they didn't want me there Culver's restaurant and a few others put on signs please leave now I've left look at your city

I've never seen emergency alerts on TV, that is really scary. The first time I got an emergency alert was a few months ago BC of a strong rain I was scared
I lived in JC when this tornado hit, but i lived on the west side of town, near the country club and Route C. KRCG 13 said the tornado was trending more east than north and would hit Wardsville but I knew they were wrong, so we set out to one of our friend's homes to ensure she was awake and safe. She lived maybe a block away from E. Mccarty and saw it all happen, and one of her neighbors even grabbed a photo. (I have it saved if anyone wants it) Hearing the PDS get issued, then driving through the west side of town and seeing the destruction, it didn't feel real
i almost never see these on tv because most people get these on their phones etc. the fact that it was a particularly dangerous situation warning is terrifying. this is random, but it gave me reminders of how i was like 6 years old and we were about to evacuate town because of a hurricane. i remember watching the radar on the tv as i threw stuff into a suitcase with my dad. i became obsessed with weather after that ☠️
