Oh, this is great! I always watch your videos and you're suddenly in " my town"! I was born and grown up in Nijmegen, still live nearby. Welcome here and enjoy your stay 😃
But please, never ever visit the Netherlands again in wintertime. Maybe it's a great idea to participate the Walk of the World in July. I think, because you also like hiking, it would be an fantastic experience for you!
@@tamaraluiten6087 Great advice Tamara, Zameer should definitely visit the Netherlands (and especially Nijmegen of course) in the Summer when Nijmegen is at it's best, everybody living outside and enjoying the sun from the terras with a nice drink 😁 So Zameer, when will you come back? 😄 Jamas!
Hello Zameer,Nice to see you in the Netherlands and welcome. I hope you will have a good time here. Helaas is het weer echt verschrikkelijk saai op het moment maar hopelijk komen er nog mooie koude winterse dagen met een heldere lucht en zonneschijn terwijl je nog hier bent. Thanks for this video and i wish you and Hanneke a Merry Christmas.
How many hours would you estimate this town/city took you to walk and enjoy? I want to attempt to do Arnhem and Nijmegen in the same day. A bike rental I can get to all of the spots. The shopping streets do not matter too much to me. However I just wanted to know how many hours of walking is a town such as this one do you track your steps? I would guess 15,000 steps. 2.5 hrs.
Looking forward to all your videos. Greatly made. Been sharing them around. Netherlands look exactly like England though, apart from the language. It's weird how everything is so similar.
Great video and beautiful city. However the title "oldest city of The Netherlands" is a self declared one... In the Netherlands we call this "wij van WC Eend adviseren WC Eend". The oldest city can be claimed by several cities in The Netherlands. Nijmegen and Maastricht are the most prominent ons to claim this title. Nijmegen has the earlies city rights, but Maastricht is the oldest settlement being contestantly habitated since the 1st century before Christ. Also Maastricht is the official Dutch representative and member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network, a group of Europe's oldest cities that also include Tongeren (Belgium), Worms (Germany), Roskilde (Denmark), Colchester (UK), Cork (Ireland), Béziers (France), Cádiz (Spain), Évora (Portugal) and Argos (Greece). It is ofcourse a friendly rivalry and both are great cities 😉
Great walking tour, love the colours!
Cheers 🍻

sadly nijmegen got bombed by the americans, lost a lot of old buildings.
Thanks for your comment!
Yes , my father (died 1980) lost his wife , sister and his businesse during that.
Me left Nijmgen in 1970.....did only recognize the streets.
