VAT Solved two major problems at the INTRASTATE LEVEL-
1)Double taxation
2)Tax on tax(Cascading effect)
Ensured that tax was only charged on value added to the product
This was done through-credit availment and credit utilisation (explanation-30:40)
!!!remember to put purchase price without tax!!!
However VAT did not solve issues at INTERSTATE LEVEL
Hence GST was introduced to tackle 3 problems-double tax, tax on tax, inter state level
How??-cgst-sgst-igst
GST is a destination based taxation system(in which state the good is consumed tax must be given to that state)
intra state-cgst(half %) sgst(half %)
inter state- igst(full %)
