at first stage when the effective stress at mid of the clay calculated , pore water pressure was not detected from total pressure , (or total pressure was taken as effective pressure ). is it correct ?pls advice

if the question was asked for total settlement and the datas of bottom sand layer was given, should we take half of the bottom sand layer depth and full depth of clay layer during effective stress calculation?

does the question change if instead of a uniformly distributed load....we are given a point load?

Yes then you would use Bousinesq to calc the variation in increase of effective stress with depth.

What if for the pre consolidation settlement we have only sigma without the prime ? Is that mean that we will calculate sigma prime but differencing sigma and the pore water?

The soil is behaves like NCC and OCC both ,void ratio changes in case of occ soil. This is wrong solution..
