I think what he did to Nadia proves that he actually never cared about the people he saved, he was doing it to prove to himself that he was a good person, but the second he accepted he was a bad one every moral thought wasn’t there anymore, therefore they were never real, just him wishing they were

Forget about Nadia he killed that college boy like is nothing , I can't see joe the same way anymore , if there is a season 5 I find it hard to believe the writers are gonna make Joe likeable again, it was the heart of the appeal of the show , how we go and watch this guy who did bad things but we found ourselves rooting for him .

@@brendacastillo8146 to be honest i never watched the show with those eyes, so maybe i can offer you a perspective that’ll make season 5 enjoyable in a different way. I never liked joe as a person, but i was fascinated by how able he was to lie to himself (the most obvious time was when he was insulting Peach for spying on Beck while doing the exact same thing) and what really made the show for me was trying to understand how much of his moral compass was actual morality and how much was necessity to prove to himself he was good (in season 2 he calls the “real will” that had in a cage for a month and then freed and actually says to himself “see proof that i can be good and free people”). In season five he has accepted he is a bad person so we’ll get to see who he is really, what part of that moral still exists and what part was bs. I don’t think it was ever about making him likeable, i think it was always about showing how you can believe you’re a good person while acting the complete opposite, how killers, but also normal people, rationalise the bad things they do and how everyone always believes to be the hero of the story, even the villains

    • @mar-d8472
      @mar-d8472 Год назад +60

Yeah I felt the same, but like Marienne mentioned: he always finds a way to escape. Which, at first, I thought that it sounded like a bit of a stretch. but when the season ends with Joe having all of Kate's resources, his entire story gets re-written publicly and he can get away with all the murders he has ever committed or will commit in the future. It's really sick, but if he had let Marienne go, him and the Lockwood people would probably end up silencing her by death or by blackmailing. He WOULD find her again and she would either end up dead, or just never free from him for the rest of her life with a constant threat luring around the corner. Even though it sounded quite dumb, it did end up being true: the only way for Marienne to truly escape Joe, was by killing him or by "killing" herself.

I really love how Penn has understood his role to a place where he can articulate the mindset of his character. Even tho he’s going along with the flow, he knows exactly what to say that answers why Joe is Joe and where his feels lie.
Sidebar season 4 part 2 was phenomenal. I think any show or book that has someone living in their own delusion and then having to take themselves out will always be great watches/reads for me. We lived in Joes “perfect” world of who he thinks he is when all the while the voice narrating his true thoughts of “I would k this person for being a douche” is actually who he is. He’s literally placed himself in a bubble. Mind you I’m thinking Rhys was wearing masks lmfaooooo like “that shape shifting DOG” I was so weak at how supportive I was of Joe knowing darn well I wanted to live in his bubble too. When Joe is bad. Crazy anyway great interview!!

It makes sense actually. Her whole character development is guided by Joe. Joe embracing his dark side instead of pushing it away inspires her to do the same. They both are bad people. Before, while trying to do good, both reject that negative part of their character, which makes them feel guilt. Now after Joe’s suicide, they are still trying to do good, but has accept that they are terrible people regardless, and that is ok for them. That’s why Kate still love Joe.

I’m assuming Joe tells her what he’s done in a way that shines him in the best light. He has a way of rationalizing what he’s done and what he continues to do. And speaking from experience, it’s easy to look past what someone has done when you have only ever seen the best parts of them. Subconsciously you try to reason why they might do such a thing and why what they’ve done doesn’t define them

And they left on a perfect cliffhanger because the stage was set for Joe and Rhys' showdown - was Joe gonna overcome his evil nature or Rhys gonna drag him down to his level? I’m definitely not trying to defend him at all because I’ve officially stopped “rooting” for him to change, but in a way …. He did TRY to fix this situation all on his own and if he hadn’t been rescued then his plan to save others would’ve succeeded in a way. He got a second chance but not to redeem himself anymore, but to be who he has always been-evil. Him framing Nadia was the saddest and twisted part of it all for me. I never would’ve expected that, but then again what do we expect from serial killers?

I don’t understand how him jumping off the bridge then switches to him being completely evil (w what happened to Nadia and Eddie). Like I thought he jumped off the bridge and lost his bad side and got to restart a lovely life w Kate… till we saw Nadia’s fate.

To some degree I find Joe's dissociative identity a little bit of a rush thing not entirely because they have made a reference to this before with the first therapist in season 1 but I definitely wish they delved into it a little bit more throughout the other two seasons but I will say it is interesting that we will get to see the fully integrated Joe next season

I still think that he knew that kate was a lockwood and had planned this since the begining, i just think he didnt count on having a mental breakdown that delayed his plans. I think the jump from the bridge was planned and he knew that he was likely to be rescued and thats why his emergency contact was kate so she could see him as repented from all of the horrible things he did in the past.

IF a 5th season is created, I want to see Marianne be the hero. I really want Joe to finally be taken down once and for all, Joe has his dose of karmic justice brewing, and I believe it should be in the form of Marianne going after him and helping Nadia get proven innocent. I also would like to see Kate be brought down also, Roald wanted to be with her and she turns him down only to end up with Joe doing what Roald was trying to begin with is hypocritical on her part. Both need to be brought down, or turn against eachother, either way Joe needs to be stopped.

Maybe Joe will be taken down at some point but the message is about this type of "Joe" exist in the world everywhere. The season 3 ending with Joe walking out and blending in the crowd - a quite fitting reminisce and tribute to the ending of The Silence of The Lambs where Hannibal [Anthony Hopkins] walk nonchalantly stalking his prey.. -, only shows that we all prone to believing our own stories, as distorted from reality they might be. People don't believe in facts, they believe in what they want to believe. And that is what Joe knows very well.

    • @Morcap

Because she is like him. Similar to Love (season 2-3); only Kate is more cunning, very sharp and collected and way smarter. She [Kate] will end up in the box where it all started for Joe when he was a kid; in the basement of the old library he bought with no other than Kate's her own money.. It will be quite fitting her money will be her own demise as a payback for the suffering she caused in the past. We all pay the dues sooner or later. Or someone we love will.

Joe from S1-S3 is no longer with us after the fall in S4 Pt2.
Why people think Joe is cold blooded when he spared Love after announcing she was pregnant?!
Didn't off his landlady sister and felt horrible about causing Mari to "lose custody".
Nadia had it coming, she could've called the cops and chose to over complicate things (Mari too) and got what she deserved (Heck take a picture like you tried in the finale or a video.
Personally only thing I think was wrong is Mari survived and Nadia should've been ended instead of her boyfriend but it did get the message that Joe has no more goodness left in him (Hence the reflection scene, the doc mentioning he DID die but was brought back, and the look he gives is like Pride rather than Remorse.
