The addition of panic/anxiety attacks for Joel in the show was such a realistic touch. It’s been established since episode 1 that he still has PTSD from losing Sarah. Now the closer he gets to Ellie the more he fears losing her. This show is so well done
Tommy never contacted Joel to let him know he was all right. Tess might still be alive if they hadn't tried to make this trip to find Tommy (which they were going to do before Ellie was added as "cargo").
Not all, but mostly everything in the show was filmed in Alberta, Canada. We have a very diverse collection of biomes and ecosystems. Wyoming and western Alberta basically look identical. Nice to see your home on the big screen 😊
@@Harry-kc8jr yes, when I said not all. They did actually shoot some shots in Kansas and Missouri but the actors were not there. All filming with the talent was in Alberta tho.
Very very late here, but yes, if you are impaled with something, you should not take it out right away as to avoid blood loss. This situation is the exception where Joel was stabbed with a freshly splintered bat and about to hop on a horse and gallop away. Keeping the bat in would cause far more damage as it would move and shake inside of the wound, creating a larger and less symmetrical wound.
The show is filmed in my Province of Alberta, Canada. This could be almost anywhere in SW Alberta by the looks, and I know a lot of the filming happened in some of the towns around me (not mine though, mine is super tiny). Bills town from Episode 3 was filmed in High River, AB where my ex lives though
5:13 the only genuine reaction i saw to that scene, that scene hit me soo hard + the music in the background was just... oh mann just a wonderful scene it was
@@popculturallychallenged it was a great moment. i would ask "can you imagine traveling across the country, that moment you see your loved one safe?", but _clearly_ you can. first time i got to use the happy tear emoji 🙂
Man...I cried more this episode then the previous ones (I replayed the game over 30 times so I'm a bit desensitised to the character deaths I saw coming) It still hit me but I didn't cry, not even for Sarah's death scene (I have replayed that part alot, it still hit me but not heavy) But seeing Joel be vulnerable and genuinely scared was heartbreaking.... and bella nailed the "I lost people to" monologue... I might argue that it hit harder then the game version. She has a pitch in her voice when she is emotional that really fucking hits hard....like the yelp when Henry killed himself. I doubted bella before the show came out..... but bella is nailing it!!!!!
At 5:13 There ya go, that's yer happy moment... Hope you enjoyed it, normal service will now be resumed 😁 I think Joel feels that he can't protect her, his only job and he can't do it. He's old and going deaf and he CANNOT face losing another child. Big cliff-hanger huh? Anyway, If the next episode is the one I think it's going to be, all I'll say is that a lot of people have been waiting for it. Buckle-up Toni... maybe an extra box off tissues, hmm? My mother once told me that it's okay to have feelings; feelings show that you are human.
Maria probably knows Tommy's side of the story about Joel and Tommy being Raiders (murdering people to steal their stuff etc). She tells Ellie that Tommy only "followed" Joel, so she blames Joel for all that, and warns Ellie about Joel. Tommy was traumatized from that time, and by extension, Maria probably "knows" Joel as this horror figure from Tommy's nightmares (and only from there). And now that figure shows up at her door, and Tommy starts acting very strangely ... I cannot really blame her for being very anxious.
Joel followed Tommy with his group out of Texas to the Boston QZ. So Tommy lied to Maria saying he followed Joel. I believe Joel. Tommy has a history of joining groups. The military, Group going to the Boston QZ, Fireflies and now Maria' group. Like Joel said, Tommy is a joiner. Plus, I don't think Joel was in his right mind following Sarah's death to make plans on leaving Tx. He probably was a basket case filled with grief. Not in his right mind to think of next steps to continue to live. Joel just transferred all of his protectiveness unto Tommy after Sarah' death. It was a dick move by Tommy to ghost his own brother. His last living family. I do agree that Joel was resentful of Tommy's new found happiness. But it was coupled with being mad at Tommy for not contacting him. Also combined with losing the need to protect Tommy. That's the core of Joel. If he doesn't think he's capable of protecting someone. He feels weak and useless. They're were deeper family dynamics playing out in episode.
@@phoenixrising8231 excellent observation! From the beginning, Joel's portrayal has been a protective family man, from the breakfast scene when he did extra work for Tommy, to his quest to find Tommy. So it does make sense that he was mad, jealous, and envious at Tommy in Jackson. Tommy is selfish and likes to talk bullshit, so it is very likely that he didn't tell the whole truth to Maria.
Yeah, in general, you should leave the penetrating subject where it is, because it CAN stop you from bleeding out. However, there may be internal bleeding nonetheless... And of course, we're talking about a functioning world, where you'll be able to find help (soon) - not this apocalyptic world.
@@popculturallychallenged It also doesn't work if you can't be kept still and stable until help gets there. If you have to move you don't want it causing more and more internal damage with every single movement you make, so Joel had no real option but to get it out and up on the horse.
In the preview for next week episode it showed a flash back from Ellie's past. So, not just you, but the entire viewing public may need to wait more than a week.
I wouldn’t take out until u got somewhere to have proper medical attention. In this case he didn’t really have a choice. He couldn’t get up on the horse with that thing sticking out of him and ride.
Hello, greetings from Brazil. Nice react, your wife is very sensitive. I'd like to see a reaction from her with Amelie from The Homies channel, who knows what I mean.😭😭😭
Sending hugs to Toni, TLOU is rough for sure. Even the game creators said when Joel got stabbed (in the game) they said they wanted the players to loose hope, lol.
This series is torture for your wife. 😁 But nevertheless the best written drama series. The series and the game were never about infected, they are just the basis on which it is built. It has always been about love, for good, bad and ugly and in all possible forms. For me as an absolute fan of the game, this series is just great. It doesn't hurt me to see few infected. Characters have always been the driver and here you get so much more of it. Maria to Ellie: "Be careful who you put your faith in. The only people who can betray us are the one we trust." Probably the most important sentence of this episode if not of the whole series. Joel to Ellie: "Dream of sheep ranches on the moon." This sentence says so much. Joel already connects Ellie's dreams with his. At this point around the campfire, he just doesn't realize that he wants her in his future. Ellie drank from Joel's liquor and it was STILL grose. That was a callback to the DLC "Left Behind". That's the name of the next episode. Next episode Ashley Johnson (Game Ellie) will properly get an special appearance (Game DLC). We met Dina in this episode. Ellie yelled at her during the meal and if I'm not mistaken, we met also Jessie in the cinema. In this episode so much preparatory work is done for the second season, for TLOU Part 2. Everything that was visually shown here in Jackson was not in Part 1 of the game. In the game, we stayed at the dam and only saw Jackson from a hill. This was all shown in Part 2. It is also very conspicuous that we only see explicit violence when Ellie sees it. Otherwise, the camera is always switched to Ellie during killings and we don't see them, we only hear them. Makes it clear, at least for me, that the story is not focused on Joel but especially on Ellie. This has been going on since episode 1. Even Sarah and not Joel was in focus. It was Sarah's journey and then Ellie's journey.
Very interesting! I never played the 2nd game so I don't know anything about it. I'm really hoping they continue the show with another season! This has been an incredible journey so far!
