Omg! Can't believe you guys are not only in my old hood but in a building that I spent my childhood in. Fun fact: I grew up on the next block, Linden St. In the 80s, this building used to be a preschool and I went there as a child. My mom started her career as a teacher in that building and still works for the company, Bushwick United Head Start. They still have numerous locations in Brooklyn.
Because the downstairs room lacks an egress window (that barred window apparently doesn't comply) it's considered unsafe as a bedroom and you should not have repeatedly called it a bedroom. The main floor is quite cramped and the renovations look cheap.
Good point--especially with this property. My first thought upon seeing the basement was if there was a fire how would one get out? Through the door that leads to the laundry room?

I bet when it was a single family mansion the interior was gorgeous since it belonged to a lumber magnate. It's a shame the architect didn't try to keep some of the original details. Looks like it was a total gut job, especially if there was an addition added & there's at least 20 apartments in there. That kitchen on a wall was ridiculous with practically no counter space or microwave. You'd need a rolling island for sure. The bedroom could only accommodate a twin size or if you're lucky a full size bed. Might as well have made it into a closet seriously. Not worth the $$$ imo.
And did you see that hotplate whatever masquerading as a stove? Cash said that the "kitchen" had everything? Did I miss the beverage cooler? Honestly, I have to ask; "What kitchen?"

Good morning 🌅 I guess you can put the living room downstairs because there isn't one upstairs. A table to eat at would take up all the space but that's where the kitchen is. So it would be a large living room downstairs even if you blocked off a space for a bedroom. Just hope it doesn't flood and ruin your furniture.
