There are so many superficial differences that separate people, language, appearance, origin, religion and can lead to arguments. But such music reminds us that we are all the same, have the same feelings, thoughts and dreams. That's the ability of music and I'm always happy about international comments on RUclips who agree on this.

My teacher compared my modulations to Elgar. I didn't know what to think of that. Now I know, that it was a great compliment!

Hard to believe anyone could be untouched by the symphony's beautiful ending - the wistful recall of the opening and then everything subsiding in a warm, peaceful glow. Makes one wonder how much of the first symphony's success in Britain came from contemporary appreciation of its quality - and how much was simply due to the opening's martial ardor and the blazing end of the finale, interpreted as the musical equivalent of "Brittania rules the waves" or some such nonsense. Both Elgar symphonies are masterpieces but I've always thought the second was more immediately accessible. (No disrespect intended to the exquisite slow movement of No. 1.)

One of the finest symphonies ever written and, for me, Elgar's most profound work. Every listening brings up new treasures from its depths. Thank you for the tremendous work with this video.

If I could keep only one Elgar work, it would be this extraordinary symphony.

We could do with this treatment for another great E-flat symphony, Franz Schmidt's Second.

I never understood why there is a harp in the middle of this war of instruments.
