    I was waiting at a bus stop, blethering away to my son via bluetooth headset about a planned lunch meeting with both of my sons and their partners. I wasn't really paying that much attention, apart from watching for my bus to arrive. Then I noticed a little old lady, propped up against the bus stop signpost. She was in tears of laughter, and when I asked her if she was ok, she calmed down enough to say to me "I only heard your side of the conversation, but you are one of the funniest people I have ever heard". Ha! A stand up comedian is born 🤣 I am glad I made her day with some laughter 😊

      You're not kidding. I used to work at a scout summer camp, and we had one (1) incident with a drone before the military base nearby 'corrected' things.
      TLDR; we had a history of helicopters being struck by laser pointers and causing issues, (big issues) and the drones were basically handled pre-emptively by the big guys in charge. We had to ban drones from the camp unless the owners signed a contract stating their understanding that they were only to be used within a certain area, at a certain time, under constant supervision, as they were deemed a potential security threat to the base that shared borders with us.

    • @TheEDFLegacy

      Depends on the drone. If there are under a certain size (typically 25g), you're probably okay as long as you're not snooping. Beyond that, you likely need a license.

    The last story: I am curious if the 13 year old was the one who reported OP in the first place to the cops when he went pee in his yard or if he told his Mom some crazy story about a nude guy? Also, I wonder why the kid decided to fly back in his yard after the whole pee incident? What was he looking for? Was he recording OP for whatever reason? Or was it to just torment OP's dog? Just curious about those parts. I think OP explained everything else pretty well about the kid's crazy mom.

    • @bunnyslippers191
      @bunnyslippers191 2 года назад +22

      From OP's description of how his dog behaved and the sounds the dog made I think the kid was buzzing the dog so he could watch the dog get scared. There have been cases in which kids, usually boys, have deliberately buzzed people's animals to scare the animals into panicking. It's a way to torture animals long distance so to speak. They think it's funny to watch chickens in someone's backyard flock panic and run themselves to death while the noisy drone chases them. People have been caught doing that to dogs, cats, rabbits in hutches, chickens and ducks in pens or free running, any animal they can scare. They enjoy frightening the animals and like to watch with the video camera while the animals panic and run. It makes them feel powerful. Some adults like it as well. There are some very sick humans out there.

    • @jgraaay18
      @jgraaay18 2 года назад +12

      @@bunnyslippers191 Well, the OP's solution is a good one. Break out the garden hose, set to anti-air mode. If you haven't got one... well, if the drone's low enough to be tormenting animals, a long stick'll do the trick.

    • @charamia9402
      @charamia9402 Год назад +2

      Likely chain of events: Kid happens to fly drone over OP's yard as he's 'watering'. Kid exitedly tells mom 'hey, guess what I saw' and mom blows a gasket. Kid realize that's a way to get attention from mom (I'm guessing as to her winery-habits he doesn't get much of that) and keeps flying over OP's yard in hopes of catching more 'incriminating watering' to get attention, then realize bothering the doggo is also great fun.

    • @TheOfficialTarynTots
      @TheOfficialTarynTots Год назад +1

      @@bunnyslippers191 I was thinking more along the lines of a curious kid but you're right, there is a lot of sick people out there who get their kicks from tormenting animals.
      When I was little my big brother would sometimes catch a fly, pull off their wings, and race them around in his hot wheels cars. I don't think he looked at insects like animals but I can see how some kids would do that. I thought it was sick and never would have even considered doing something like that so I guess I didn't think of a kid doing that with the intention of upsetting an animal but I can definitely see that now.

      @@Allantitan Nah, I grew up being treated as a male myself due to transitioning in adulthood and I know damn well that just having a dick or being socialized as a dude alone does not make someone worthy of my ire. I believe that the patriarchy we currently have in power fucks everyone over, just in different ways. For example as depressing as the statistics around how few female SA victims ever report the crime are the statistics around how many men report that shit are even more depressingly low. The reason why rates of reporting are low in general is due to the fact that many people have a tendency to shame anyone who reports SA, this is even worse for men who have often been conditioned from birth to think that admitting any weakness is tantamount to a mortal sin. This does have the upside that men are more likely to be believed in SA cases due to judges taking that into consideration but it's still some arbitery BS that makes life worse for everyone. As far as I'm concerned it's just another divide and conquer tactic where some psychopathic douchnozzle a long time ago said "hey look, I'm gonna be taking away some of your rights and imposing arbitery double standards on you but don't worry cause I'm gonna treat this other group slightly worse in a different way!" Also it's not like women aren't equally capable of being complete dickheads and creepwads, which brings up some more double standards that I think just sucks in general no matter who you are. Women are much more likely to get away with SA and in many case due to outdated laws a women can straight up do that shit without a court even considering it SA. That being said as far as we know women are less likely to commit SA in MOST circumstances fortunately though I do suspect we'll find the statistics aren't quite as skewed once we make some progress on that front. Also most of the time a women is murdered we find it's a man who committed the murder, this is also true when it comes to men and since even more men die from murder than women we'd actually be helping even more men than we would women by deconstructing whatever double standards in our societies social conditioning procedures causes this phenomena.

    On the topic of drones, it's actually legal to fly a drone over private property. How high you have to be depends on a lot of stuff. There's typically state laws, city ordinances, etc, but nobody owns the airspace above their house. That being said, even though a 13 year old is legally able to fly, obtain a cert from completing the TRUST (The Recreational UAS Safety Test) from the FAA (which is required to fly recreationally), and a 13 year old is legally old enough to register a drone to the FAA , flying a drone low enough to be able to harass a dog or be hit by a water hose would likely mean he was flying it way, way below being able to legally speaking. This is at least the case in the US.

    For the second story, I worked fast food a teenager for a couple years and never a had a problem with people. Till I returned in my early 20's. I was working in the kitchen that day (cross trained for Cashier and kitchen) and our store took names to call out the order. Well one day there was a lady named Phyllis and I guess the cashier heard Willis. I went to the pop machine to get water cause, you know working in a kitchen is hot and you get thirsty. I had my apron on walking out of the kitchen to the front and this lady sees me and just yells at me saying her name is PHYLLIS NOT WILLIS. I had to apologize and say I'm sorry the cashier took the name down wrong. I was nice but just wanted to berate her cause she saw me coming out of the kitchen and just verbally attacked me when all I was doing was making the food

    Regarding the first story, I will say that someone chatting loudly on a cell in public can, indeed, be very obnoxious - if you're in a place like a movie theater or a subway station, or some other place that's packed with people and they all have to listen to you yowl about your groceries. A long, largely empty stretch of road is not one of those places - it shouldn't matter if you ARE talking to yourself; if you're not in a crowded area, you should be able to do whatever the hell you want (not to the point of illegality, of course. But you know what I mean). Maybe that Karen had been burnt too many times.
    And personally, I was left feeling a little worried for the kid in that last story. A crazy woman being crazy is one thing, but it sounds like her ex is going to have an uphill battle with their son. If he prefers his mom because she lets him do whatever the hell he wants to do, AND SHE'S CRAZY - well, that kid is going to have some issues, both later in life and probably now.

    Story 4: I had something similar happen to me but way worse, in reference to the love tap in the update. Was leaving work and getting followed. On a busy road, these guys were weaving around me yelling and blocking my path for some reason. They followed me quite a ways and I saw my chance to calmly slow down, switch lanes and turn off to a friend's who lived in the area and would help me call the police cuz I didn't have my phone.
    They got into my turn lane after seeing what I was about to do and caused me to basically turn them 180 on a busy road. So I tried to find a place to pull off, now aware I'll have to deal with them and try to get the cops involved without being able to call myself. Tried to turn down a different side street, clearly going slow and flashing hazards. As soon as I stop, 4 guys from the car hop out and book it at my car with weapons, causing me to nope out and pull away.
    They did it one more time before I realized I'd have to drive to the police or get assaulted for no apparent reason. They managed to poof on me, but then I got blocked in and drawn on by 4 patrol cars for a hit and run. Eventually they understood what happened and wrote me a ticket for speeding, but then wrote tickets out for the people in the now TWO cars full of guys who had been planning to pincer me if one of them hadn't called from the first car along the way.
    The problem got consistent cuz they wrote my address on their tickets and the driver's on mine, so I was stalked, threatened, and vandalized intermittently for about a year. I still don't know what I did to these people.

    I once got a Karen and her kids kicked out of a mall. About 20 years ago, I worked at a place called Taco Time, in a mall food court. I rarely worked up front and mostly did prep work in the back. One day, I was doing my usual stuff when I heard a laoud "Excuse me! Hellooo!", followed by someone banging on the counter up front. I walked up to see what she wanted. This woman says "I ordered an ice water and YOU didn't give it to me!". Even though I had nothing to do with preparing or serving her order, I smiled and appologized and filled up an ice water for her. When I sat it on the counter, she slapped it, causing water to splash on me and all over the register and counter. She then turned and walked back to the table where her two kids sat, looking asshamed of her behavior. I was having none of it. I called security and told them what happened. A few minutes later, two security guards walked up and asked where she was. While I was talking to them, the Karen was looking at us and I looked her right in the eye and pointed to her. She looked down and pretended to be messing with her food. Security walked over and told her she needed to leave. They gave her the walk of shame right out the door. I felt bad for her kids. They looked embarrassed as hell and I'm guessing it's not the first time she's acted like that. I felt like I had to do something because I didn't want those kids to grow up thinking it was acceptable to behave like a peice of shit in public.

    Yes, it is against the law to fly a drone over any private property, or near government property. Also if the drone is above a certain size, you are required to register it with the FAA and get a license to use it. OP had every right to take the drone down like that. My folks had a similar incident in their neighborhood except it involved a shovel and the drone experiencing what it's like to be a fly getting hit by a fly swatter. My father still has the busted up drone in his garage like a trophy heh.
    Anyway, the mother came and tried to get it back and after the cops told her that what her son had done was violate our privacy and that the drone was now legally his property. She then tried to get my father in trouble with the HOA, and was basically told the same thing. 2 days later there was a massive e-mail and a printed letter sent out to all the residents of the subdivision about the use of drones and the rules regarding them.
    There was a positive thing that came out of this though other than the Karen being taught a lesson. The drone had been harassing my folks' little Pomeranian named P.J. and sadly they lost him back in March of 2021. They did get a new Pom pup in the end of April that they named Chewie, because his coloration reminded them of Chewbaca. My mom always missed her little 'Punkinhead,' as she called him as he was very attached to her. So for Mother's Day last year, I managed to get the SD card out of the drone and thankfully there was a few videos of him on it. I got those and burned them onto a disc so my mother could watch it whenever she wanted. Sadly she passed on New Years day and she was cremated and the urn we have her ashes in is more like a chest and that CD is one of the things we put in with her.

    To be honest, that last story was very unfortunate for OP, but I am sure the dad of the story is almost relieved for it to have happened. That whole situation would have given his lawyer(s) very strong evidence against the mother, making the custody case a slam dunk, despite mothers still being favored in divorce courts. I know divorced people that would celebrate this kind of thing happening. Something somewhat similar happened with me and a friend's dad - I unintentionally helped him with a court case and he took me out to dinner over it lol.
    It is also for the best that this happened for the development of the child as well. We need less kids being raised by monsters that could potentially become monsters themselves. We need more kids raised by parents that encourage respecting other people's boundaries, like it seems the dad was trying to do.

    Just a thought: in the third story, the manager points out that "this is a franchised restaurant and therefore private property." Even if it wasn't franchised, its still private property. Unless the government owns it, its private. Doesn't matter if its open to the public or anything. If a person or a company owns it, its private not public. I think this manager is amazing for standing up for his employees.
    Fourth story: Flying a drone over private property in order to spy on people on that property is a federal crime. Its also an invasion of privacy tort, which means you can sue that person. In this case, the person you would sue would be the custodial parent, since the boy was a minor. Damaging his garden is both destruction of property, trespass, and several other torts and crimes. Further, the mother slapping the phone out of OP's hand is battery, which is another crime and another lawsuit. Honestly, I don't cast blame on the kid. With a mother like that, I can't imagine him turning out much better. This is despite the fact that I give kids a great leeway to begin with because, well, they're kids. Kids act irresponsibly solely because they don't have the life experience to judge correctly on what they should and shouldn't do.

    That third story, my general manager when I worked at the McD's close to my home was definitely NOT Team Staff. She would deliberately let customers be rude to us in every possible way, even to the point of screaming, profanity, and throwing stuff at us, all because they're customers. And she even used the complaints from these rude f***s to justify not giving us raises or promotions. I still to this day have no regrets for the day I finally told her to shut the F up.

    Drone story... Big misconception that I would like to point out, 1st off, I am a Part 107 licensed drone pilot and can tell you that flying over a house is 100% LEGAL, BUTTTTTTT... the pilot cannot lose line of sight during flight and the drone cannot come into close proximity to people or animals with the intention to harass them. To be that low in someone's backyard will violate certain rules but flying over property does not.
    Since the OP was protecting the dog from the drone, he's in no trouble, he also could have kept it much like a lost baseball

    No I'd make sure to follow the tow truck drivers straight to her house so I could hear the conversation

      I would be very quick to get an unknown car towed from my property. Park on my property, your car goes away, with or without you! 😡

    Story 4 was fairly interesting until they mentioned that starting uphill can cause you to roll back a foot. Sorry, but whoever is roling back while putting the car in gear, should not ever drive a manual car. You can stay on the break an clutch to put the gear in, and then release break and clutch slowly at the same time to stay in place. If you have any kind of experience, you'd quickly switch to instantly releasing the breaks completely and the clutch into the friction zone and instantly pressing on the gas pedal.
    During my time in driving school I rolled back while trying to figure out what to do, sure, but about a month after getting my licence I already knew how to start uphill without rolling back.
    A "love tap" is something that should never ever happen!

    One of my local McDonalds' has a large handmade sign near the counter that says "Entitled and abusive customers are not welcome and will be asked to leave. Either by the manager or the police". This is because that restaurant has gotten so many Karen's abusing staff that for about 4 months, last year, there was a police car stationed there during opening hours.

    I got a Karen story for you: I'm a manager at a retail chain (living in a recession sucks). The Karen I encountered demanded her money back on her return. She had an expired receipt so we can only give her store credit. She goes on a tirade about how store credit forces you to shop at the same store (no duh) and that she has never heard about such a policy. I tell my cashier to just refuse the return because she wants what we cannot give her. She quickly changes her mind. The cashier later told me that the customer was reporting me to corporate. So far I got no complaints from my boss.

    2:33 she most likely won't even learn her lesson after that!! She could go to jail for this x amount of years, and still go back to beating on someone else

    Last story. First I am a licensed drone pilot so I am required to know the rules. Flying over private property is not illegal as airspace is regulated by the FAA. That being said what this kid was doing could get him in trouble with the FAA if it was reported and the FAA decided to take action. Also when flying over private property it is always best to inform the property owners if you are going to be flying low say under 100 feet ( no set limit on this) because about 100 feet you really are not going to be potentially interfering with anything on said property.
