Mike: Always glad to see a video from you. The expertise and insight you bring to the table is always refreshing. Almost bought one of these 1-641's from Craigslist recently. Still have mixed feelings about restoring this radio if that deal comes thru; but I'll give it it a try - now that I have some usable pointers you have provided to keep in mind. Thanks!
My neighbor used to brag about his Royce. Smiling Shamrock on my Royce base station....booming over everyone, until I got mt Browning Eagle MK3. Then things changed. The 70s were tough. I was 15😉
I've got like 4 of these and they aren't so bad really even though not fully featured like the 642 model of Royce... Always very nice and pleasant and educational videos from you Michael. You're the man and give me a hollar when you can trying to get a hold of ya. 73's
Got to love the old sardine cans. I still have not found my documentation. I am sure it is on the terabyte drive somewhere. Nice old radio from the past Mike.

@@mikesradiorepair no its all good I have one on the bench right now had the bad filter got that fixed now she is off freq a bit and I am wondering if I remove the power supply I would have access to the trimmers in the pll unit?? DE N9WQ
@@835YT Yes, you can remove the power supply module and leave it connected to power the radio to gain access to align the PLL synthesizer module. If I remember correctly I think you have to remove the radio side of the power supply module wiring harness from the bracket so you can stretch it out far enough.
I think the cb world has more than their fair share of crazies, just listen to almost any towns local am channel and you'll find they're, well crazy. Online you get cb crazies with computers screaming rights to this mod, that design and on and on. I'm just guessing though but for some reason CB = Crazy Bunch.
@@orange70383 I think u mean CB guys are usually real freedom loving types that are real men that also like guns and are not pussy types that think having a gun makes you "crazy." In case your wondering theres as many guns as people in the US. Maybe loosen your man bun a little. And scrape off that Hillary sticker.

The Radio Shop
That's the one thing that sucks about radios with the sardine can synthesizer modules, lack of service info.
Hey Mike a very interesting video on this radio. You are the GURU of Radio mate.

12. If you watch the video at time stamp 17:30 it's shown in the SAMS manual. Videos are unscripted so slips of the tongue happen, sorry.

Does the Royce 1-642 use the same chassis?
Soylent Green
No completely different. Same board as in a Pace 8193.
